Taking less insulin and bike riding.

There are two good articles in Diabetes Forecast this month about
hypoglycemia unawareness and taking too much insulin. It's like one
article was written about me.
I fall in this category, at 66 I run wide open all day long, riding my
bicycle to Wal-Mart or just working on something all day I seem to burn
a lot of energy just being on my feet. Like the guy mentioned I have a
lot of readings in the 40ies and 50ies and my last A1c was 6.4 down
from 6.9 a year ago. Instead of taking about 5 units of Novolog per
meal thing thinking I have eaten enough to cover a 40 reading. I cut
back to 4 units yesterday per meal and 16 units of Lantus at night,
instead of 18.
I kid the guard at wal-Mart about getting a bicycle rack. He always
tells me to tell one of the M-1s.
Two days ago all the managers were having their morning meeting in the
produce dept. I listened in the back. He mentioned that it was bike
month, did anyone ride their bike with a silly grin on his face. I held
up my hand and said I did. I got a weird look. At the end of the
meeting the manager said there was something else and I can't remember
what it was. I held up my hand again. "Yes sir ?? he said. I said the
Target store, just up the street, has a bicycle rack in front of their
store why doesn't this store have one? He said that is a very good Idea
I'll check on it today. I even got a little applause. And I thought I
suffered from anxiety?
I'll have to take a break Monday, when they do green light laser
surgery on my prostate. I will give a report on that..
