Re: Ping Chris J.

RK,

Thanks for these stories. Don't know if you'll remember, but I showed
up on these boards a few months ago, a type 1 (or 1.5...whatever) in
early honeymoon stage trying to decide when to start insulin. My A1C 2
weeks ago was 5.9, through somewhat low-carb diet (100-120 g daily) and
3-6 miles of running daily.

My biggest concern about adding insulin is the lows. I have occasional
minor lows now (between 70-80, usually on days I run 6 miles and fail
to consume more carbs), always with symptoms. Adding insulin now would
allow me to be more flexible with my diet, but I don't want to get to
the point where my target blood sugar is 250! That's scary.

I can't remember if it was here that I read these blood sugar swings
are not as bad for type 1s as they are for type 2s. I would be
interested to read more about that. If anyone has more info. or a link,
I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Tina
