Re: Ignored by dentist

My Husband had a root canal on a front tooth that he had cracked when a wave
hit him in the face...It was weird:)

Nope. No feeling whatever. I had been having pain partially along the jaw
extending up into the ear and right sinus. I had just been to the Dr. and
was being treated for a sinus infection. As it turns out, some of the pain
I was feeling was not just from the sinus. It was in fact from the tooth.

They used a cold spray on the tooth and I was afraid of it because when I
had it before at a previous dentist, the pain it caused sent me rocketing
out of the chair. But this time when they sprayed it, I felt nothing. I
thought this was a good thing. Apparently not.

The dentist said when this kind of nerve damage occurs, it is often from an
old injury, particularly a blow to the head. And I do remember such an
accident when I was living in NY. I was in the storage room trying to
either put some seasonal stuff away or get it out. Can't remember which
now. At any rate, a computer box fell on my head. It was empty, but really
thick cardboard and it struck the side of my head where that tooth was. I
remember feeling instant pain and it also felt like part of the tooth or
filling had broken off. I already had a dentist appointment the next day.
I told her about it, but she said there was no problem.

The pain continued and I saw the dentist again. Again, she said there was
no problem. But... She also didn't do an X-Ray. I think she was just a
lousy dentist. She refused to do X-Rays on Angela at all, saying that she
was too young to need them. But when we got here, we discovered that Angela
had a cavity. And also the problem with my tooth. So here I had been in
pain for over a year! But by the time I saw the dentist here, the nerve had
so totally died out there was no more pain.
