The only thing that the government scrutinizes with the ADA or any other health charity is that it stays within the law as far as tax-deductibility and accounting.

There is no government oversight of the health advice given out by any private health organization. If you know otherwise, please point to some factual proof.

And if there is no reason to worry about blood sugars over 140 mg/dl at 2 hours, why does the AACE (American College of Clinical Endocrinologists) set that number as the 2 hour target? They are hardly a fringe group.

Ironically, because I'm not an M.D. I look everything up, read and evaluate research, and, oddly enough, I have gotten a lot of respect and interest from the M.D.s with whom I have discussed these issues who are the first to explain that their are too busy to read much research and only see the summaries which often omit very important data.

The only people who get into the angry, emotional, fact-free vituperation like yours and shriek "you're not a doctor" are people who can't advance any arguments except "The ADA says so" to refute findings they find troublesome.

Fortunately, I trust that the newbies who check in here have functioning brains and can read and draw their own conclusions. I put out the informations and findings that make sense to me and have helped me preserve my health in the face of some serious challenges. Many others who post here do the same. We don't always agree, but we learn a great deal from the cites and ideas that get discussed by each other. I have changed some of my original opinions in response to well reasoned arguments, most notably my feelings about metformin.

Can't say that I've learned a whole lot from people whose postings are nothing but angry tirades, name calling, and sneering personal attacks I guess they feel like they're heroes supporting Revealed Truth. I don't ever expect to make a dent in their assumptions. But fortunately, other people reading come away with something useful from these discussions which is why, periodically, I put some of my energy into them.
