Dear Alias,
I'm in Maryland too, but the other side of the Bay. If you are serious about going to the government with this, I'd be happy to get involved with you in some of the efforts you mentioned. We're lucky to have the Federal Congress so close by, but believe it or not the Federal drug laws aren't that bad. It's the state that's screwing things up. That may mean trips to Annapolis. I'm very game to pursue this. Just remember we can't go as Alias and Old Goat. Once the anonymity is gone you can pretty much depend on them finding our pain docs and at least they can expect an Rx audit. I've been with my current doc for almost 10 years, and have had no problems, but I do not think it would stay that way if it came down to testifying before the state congress. I'm willing to take a shot if you are.
This may not be a bad state to get something going in. Until they cut the programs, Maryland had a Pain Patients Bill of Rights and a special Board to insure things like are happening in your case didn't happen. We also have a very wimpy Medical Marijuana provision on the books. Nobody knows and they don't want to draw attention to it. No doctor wants to be the one to write that first Rx, but it's something to think about and look into if you think that might help. The upshot of MD's medical pot law just made the fines for less than an ounce a $50 ticket.
To address the most important issue for you at present, I would suggest getting in touch with the American Pain Foundation (www.painfoundation.com) and call them about some help on the Eastern Shore or even Delaware. They're a sort of activist group located in Baltimore. You may be able to find some resources on the site to find a competent pain physician, but some of their lists may be old, so talking to a human will get you the best results.
Get in touch if you want to follow through on this lobbying type of thing. I have some definite ideas on this. My email address is not munged so feel free to drop a line. You should start a new thread on this too. Hang out here for a while, even if it's kind of slow. Maybe trying to get folks to join the fight will pick things up around here and we'll add some voices to the complaint.
Hang in there--og

There are NO PAIN MANAGEMENT DOCTORS LEFT IS SALISBURY MD, BETWEEN THE
POLICE SENDING UNDER COVER COPS WARING FAKE NECK BRACES INTO THEIR
OFFICES WITH OUT A WARRENT TO TRY TO TALK THE DOCTORS INTO WRITING
THEM A PRESCRIPTION, ITS POLICE INTIMEDATION. AND THE MEDICAL BOARDS
ARE JUST AS BAD. ARE THERE PEOPLE OUT THEIR THAT ABUSE THESE DRUGS,
YES. BUT THEIR TAGING THE LIGITAMENT PATIENTS AS NO DIFFERENT THAN
DRUG ADDICTS AND DEALERS. WHOEVER WAS TALKING ABOUT WRITING TO CONGRESS
AND SENATE HAS THE RIGHT IDEA, THEIR NEEDS TO BE SOME KIND OF
UNIONAZATION OF CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS THAT COULD FUCTION LIKE A LOBBY..
