Re: Message from Doug

There is good along with the bad. Thankfully he hit his head hard enough
that he stayed where he was.
I can just imagine if it was not that hard and he picked him self up, held
a rag to his head and started to drive away to NY.
I would not put it past him to try that.
As that is what I probably would have done

I guess someone was looking out for him.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Denise, I am Doug's Landlord. This is a first
for me writing to a newsgroup. Doug told me which one to write
to,(Alt.Chronic Pain).Hopefully I am writing to the right group.
When I came home from work there was a neighbor sitting on my porch. He
told me some news that I was hoping never to hear. He went by the front
of house saw Doug's trunk open. He yelled his name and waited awhile.
Since he did not answer he went to the rear of the house. Doug goes in
that entrance there are no stairs to climb, he has a big deck with an
entrance for his scooter. I put a sidewalk in for him when he started
getting bad about 9 years ago. Her found Doug lying with his head on the
cement and his body mostly in the grass. Since he did respond, Bill
called 911. Before they put him in the ambulance he was coming around he
did say, I'll be ok don't take me.
I went to the Hospital and just arrived back home.Apparantley this
incident happened about 11 AM. He was loading something's in his car to
go to N.Y for Thanksgiving. They saw no cane, he most likely was carrying
a box with both hands and fell. It was a gift for his Grandson's
Birthday.
The Doctors said he got 30 stitches on his head and fractured his skull.
There was quit a bit of Blood on the sidewalk Bill said. He hosed it down
for Doug. The reason he fell is either he slipped or a knee or
leg, cramp, something gave out. They did every test possible the Doctor
said. They found an embolism in hi Pulmonary Artery.

He was awake. Had IV's and all that other stuff in him, hooked to
machines. He asked me to please go home and get his meds. His Doctor is
out of town for Thanksgiving and is afraid they will not give him what
he is on and needs. He was in a great deal of pain.
I am writing this as I said. Doug asked me to post and tell everyone
thank you over the years for all your posts and encouraging words. He
said he learned more from this Group and he mentioned a lot of members. I
am not going to type them. I do not remember all the names, if I leave
someone out he would be upset. Doug learned about new meds, how they
effect different people. Links that were posted he read. If not for this
group he said "I would of never learned how to express my self and to get
the knowledge of all the meds, their good side and there bad side. The
doctors started to listen and to respect his sincere and truthful view on
his Medications and his Diagnoses. Hen read day after day ,articles,
Doctor's reports and studies in Chronic Pain Field.
He had told me some Doctors told him he knows more about some drugs and
medical conditioned that he does. Doctor's at least GP"s can not know
every illness and treatments for them.
If I know him he will pull the IV's out and leave on his own. It will not
be the first time(Thick Headed),in a good way.

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and your families

Denise for Doug
