Thanks for your comments.
The doctor's website might be just a bit radical, with its listing
about
Healing Prayer.
That one has my vote.
I didn't find it all that radical, the site wasn't preachy or anything. And
since the spiritual aspect is part of the DO's approach, that does not
surprise me in the least. My PCP will refer patients to their respective
pastors or other spiritual counselors, prays with and for patients, and
offers other spiritual support. She _does_ _not_ prosteylize; just offers
spiritual support only to those patients receptive to it. If you are not a
religious person, you won't be pressured into accepting any spiritual
assistance.
I would imagine this doctor follows a similar program, and the patients
refusal of spiritual support as part of the Holistic Approach is accepted
and respected. On my PCP's initial intake for, religious affiliation is
asked, and those listing "none" are probably not even offered spiritual
support. My SIL is not religious, and has never had anything of a spiritual
nature brought up in her treatment. Her/my PCP has only focused on the
physical and mental aspects of Holistic care. It's there, for those who
want/desire it.
Dr Pharo sounds like a very caring doctor, and the healing arts link is
intended for her patients wanting spiritual support. She is simply providing
a service as part of Osteopathic Holistic Care, it's what DO's do! I would
hope non-religious folk wouldn't be turned off by that, as you aren't
obligated to be a person of faith. You will still be treated with compassion
and care. BTW, my PCP founded the E*burg Osteopathic Primary Care Center.
She has been the recipient of several awards, including the following;
In 2005, Dr. P was awarded the Grand Prize donation in the Ivory Gift of A
Gentle Touch Contest.
Dr. P was named the 2006-2007 Maryland Osteopathic Physician of the Year by
the Maryland Association of Osteopathic Physicians.
Breaking News
EOPCC was the recipient of the 2009 Medical Practice
of the Year awarded by Physicians Office Managers
Association of America (POMAA)
She has also had numerous nominations as well. And I intentionally left out
the full name of the town and hers. While she will treat some existing
patients with pain conditions, she is no longer taking patients exclusively
for pain relief. A number of patients put her in a very compromising
position, and this was a difficult decision she had to make to focus on what
her practice is about, adequate primary care for all, but especially the
poor who have no access to care.
Her practice is affiliated with WellSpan healthcare (WellSpan operates
Gettyburg and York Hospitals, and provides medical services in doctors
offices and clinics in Central/Western MD, and York and Adams County PS),
and WellSpan now operates pain clinics in Gettysburg, York and Hanover PA.
So, she refers patients to the pain clinics. She will still treat selective
regular patients for pain relief, as part of overall treatment. If somebody
in the central/western MD or Adams County PA area is looking for a good PCP,
they can email me for a link to her website.

My PCP is a DO, and my experience with DO)'s is that because they
take a Holistic Approach to healthcare, they are far more likely to
try protocols that are experiemental, as well as non-med
alternatives. It's a plus that my PCP is also Board Certified in
Internal Medicine. My choice would be the DO over anyone else on the
list, just because my experience has been so positive.
