Since I've noted the issue of hyperalgesia to Lynn, I'll include
the prospect of opiod-induced allodynia.

Yes, I've heard of that. But do opiates also induce sweating more profusely
on one side of the body and not the other? Do they also induce one hand
being icy cold to the touch while the other feels warm when both hands are
placed on someone's face?
I happen to think that, yes there is a possibility this might opiod-induced
hyperalgesia dn allodynia, but *every* symptom should be taken into account
when looking at the "big picture". Given all the other symptoms of RSD that
I've had, is it more likely that the hyperalgesia/allodynia is induced by
the opiates or by the syndrome itself.
Listen, please, please, please read this - I've written this at least 10 or
20 times since I've been on this group. I don't LIKE taking opiates! I
never took anything stronger than aspirin in all my 58 years of life until
this happened to me. I would PREFER to be on a treatment plan that doesn't
include opiates. I HATE being held hostage to the whim of a doctor who has
the power of giving or taking away the one thing that allows me to work and
function so that I can keep my home and pay for my food.
At this point in time I don't have the option of taking off a few weeks of
work in order to get off the opiates, and then possibly still not be able to
work at all because of the pain. Yes, I know you think that LDN is the
answer to everything from MS to bad breath, but I don't have the confidence
in that that you do nor do I have the time to experiment. This is *MY* life
on the line here.
I've just found out (will have the confirmation tomorrow) that I have yet
*another* illness that I have to deal with that means taking yet more time
off work. I've been "talked to" by H/R now *FIVE* times about my *negative*
PTO hours..... my company is merging with another company, the economy is in
the shit can, and I'm holding on by the skin of my teeth to keep my job and
keep a roof over our heads and food on the table.
It's very easy to sit back and tell someone what they should or shouldn't do
when you are not the one who may lose *EVERYTHING* including your life as
the outcome.

Anyone here with RSD ever get odd sensations (other than pain). The
weirdest thing keeps happening to me lately... whenever I pick up a piece
of
paper "hot off the printer" (literally warm from the machine) it feels
icky
to me (sometimes to the point of making me a bit nauseated). Not exactly
slimy, but that description comes to mind, it's like a sensation that I
feel
almost at the back of my throat. I just know I want to drop it and don't
want to pick it up again until it cools off.
