Hiya (((Doug))),
No prob! Actually, Soma has always worked best for me & is my current
short acting musclerelaxer. The other one is a longacting Flexeril
called Amrix. Flexeril never worked for me in the past but somehow it
helps now as a long acting one. The Amrix was touted by my excellent
pain doc as a good 'newer form" that helps w/fms. I'm taking it for
both the fms & rsd. & the cmpd too I suspect!
Anyway, there ya go!
Kindly,
LoriBoB

Hi LoriBoB,
I have been on every muscle relaxer there is. Flexerill seems the best
for media take 2 10mg tabs every 8 hours. If you do not mind answering,
what Muscle relaxer do you take for long term relief??
If you do not answer I understand.

Hey there ((Happy)) (( ))=a hug
Hope I warmed your seat up a bit for ya! (think I welcomed u back on
some other thread somewhere, lol!)
((KittyChats)) said it best so far, so same here. I have bilateral
RSD (both feet & legs & spreading:( +cmp, fms, arth,& a bunch of
other stuff back stuff etc.) Besides using opiates for the rsd pain I
must use 2diff. muscle relaxers for the spasms ...which are monsters
too. One is long-acting, the other shorter. I also use my moist heat
packs for flares of any kind!!! They have helped me more than
anything sometimes! Plus, I use some relaxation techniques many nites
to help relax to sleep & for bad flares. A warm to tepid leg dip in
tub w/epsom salts sometimes for real bad rsd flares. Sooo, that's
what I do besides listening to & playing music (guitar & banjo) &
watchin' a lot of movies (which I love)!
Kindly,
LoriBoB

Howdy Happy-
The clash of personalities is a consequence of an unmoderated group
and thank gawd for this unmoderated group. I found this group after an
unpleasant experience when a moderator's ego in a 'member's only'
style group a couple years back.
I'll take this little bump in the road in stride, LOL.
You will find support and acceptance here because that, fortunately,
is a consequence of an unmoderated group, as well. There is a wrench
for every nut (Gufaw...) since we each participate as we choose.
There's frequently much less friction than one would expect.
You will find a variety of thought here on the narcotic issue. Many of
us have fairly open minds because pain pretty much jams you up to the
point of being impossible to ignore, much less function.
I've had to 'get real' with myself about the medication issue because
my thought used to be, "Well, that's fine for you, but I'd never take
that road." Pain causes one to rethink some things, for sure.
I have RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy). It is a bear. Narcotics are
one of the few things that helps, at all.
I quashed my doubts some time ago by going cold turkey off my
medication because I did not think it was doing much and I wondered if
by gawd I was imagining the pain worse than it was/ would be. Holy
shit that was a horrendous 6 days! I was literally paralyzed to the
couch, unable to move, but that is what I needed to do, for me. I
wanted to be sure that there was no other way around it. I stand
convinced.
I have rotated through a bunch of off label bullshit in the early
going and have found that, by and large, not only is it not helpful,
but frequently they make it worse. Logic says if you're using
medication for a side effect than the probability of bad shit
happening is going to increase ad infinitum.
Anyhoo, pull up a seat and get comfortable, cuz this place feels like
home in no time...
kittychats
Thanks for the welcome, pulling up a seat is difficult, chairs are so
darn
heavy, so I'll sit on the floor - but then I'll need help getting up ! :)
Like you I know that narcotics have to be part of my treatment, and not
just
light doses. I stand behind their use in chronic pain and will debate
(albeit not well - damn this loss of word thingee) anyone. All meds have
to
be treated with respect, IMHO whether the pharmacist hands them to you or
you get them OTC. Not all meds are effective for all people. I think
I've
seen you guys here use the "YMMV" alot - and I sure do agree! I happen
to
be on one med that is very effective (a non-narcotic) for me that has
been
out and out demonized by many.
Now, can someone pass the heating pad...? I've been taking more of my
simvastatin cause I really, really like the leg cramp side-effect :)
j/k!!!!
