Luckily for my wife her hands seem to function as well could be
expected now. She's had a total 8 surguries on her hand, for
carpal tunel and trigger finger problems. Thankfully they were
all 1 hand at a time. I think she did have 2 fingers done for
trigger finger at once though. She has always done a lot of
typing at work and has done endless sewing for longer than I've
known her.

I am going to the new hand surgeon on Thursday. I can not imagine any
scenario to save the use of these hands and elbows, that does not involved
elbow surgery.
As far as surgeries go, it should not be too involved.
But to quote my wife, I should really not make any more plans until I
actually see the surgeon.

I have been able to avoid surgeries on the hands for at least 10 years or
more. I was averaging a surgery on one of the hands/wrists at least once
every two years before the last hand surgery.
At that time the doctor said he could not make the repairs necessary without
doing more damage than he could repair. But it appears that is no longer
the case.
But I guess I should wait until after Thursday before making any solid plans
