I roll up a towel and put it behind my neck to create the same effect
while lying down for my neck's misbehavior.
The towel/pillow strategy has additional advantages -- the ability to
adjust the size of the 'roll' by the size (and roll tightness) of the
towel which is rolled -- the ability while sleeping, resting or relaxing
to 'roll over' on one's side and then just use the towel as a little
pillow on the side of the head.
Also, if you had to/ wanted to/ you could put something warm or cold
inside there, the roll.

That's a GREAT idea, thanks Mike! I was *really* hesitant about paying $25
for something that may not even work, and your ingenuity helped save me that
expense (believe me, we're watching every penny we spend until DH finds
another job). I'm going to give it a try when I get home tonight. I don't
know if it's just the type of injury I have that is causing this, but I feel
like my head weighs a thousand pounds and is pressing sown on every nerve in
my neck - I just want to stretch my neck to get the pressure off and I
haven't found a way to do that even when I'm lying down.
Again, thanks for your advice, it is very much appreciated.
Hugs,
