Dear Debs,.
I was out doing some pre-Christmas shoplifit, er shopping, and I came across a pair of "massage slippers". You slap a couple batteries in each one, hit the button on the side and they take off with vibrating. I sto, um, bought the wife a pair and she really seems to like them. They work better when you are off your feet, but you may want to check a pair out. I think they're made by Home, the guys who make some of those cheesy personal vibrators, but their stuff isn't all crap. I bought her a massage pad with heat that we both break out now and again. You could use it in a chair, but we sleep on it sometimes. The best thing about this time of year is you can buy stuff may in advance of the holiday, and if you decide it sucks you have plenty of time to take it back as a dupe gift or some other lame excuse. In some cases it help to show you paid for some things.
Christmas. Bah, Humbug !--og

Hi Catnipped!
I'm w/u...I like the "snout collar" as well but she doesn't!! I can
hardly wait for the obedience class to start up! Actually I've
trained various animals well but I haven't had a puppy (she's a 7mo
black lab/retriever w/chow mixed in...tons of energy!)in 30yrs!!! OMG,
I forgot the energy of labs!!! She's hilarious too...does strannnge
stuff like stands on her head & smiles w/all her teeth showing (but
not in a snarl, it''s definitely smiles!!)! I've always rescued full
grown dogs that had less chance of adoption from humane society. I've
retrained horses for various stables (lol, thats how I got to ride all
the time while I was growing up!) & even raised 2 of my own from
yearlings. (I miss 'em soooo much!!!)
As far as the fall went, at least this one, I wasn't walking the
dog...we were just at the dog park & she was off running around. I
tried to sidestep others tho & that made me move faster than I
should've & BAM! There were a bunch of ppl there to help me but it
took me at least 5min b4 I could even get up. Can't bend my knee now
w/o extreme pain. Crap, just when I'd been doing so well!
Argh!
Sorry for all the long explanation! lol, only took me a few hrs since
I was making dinner & doing all kinds of stuff in -between trying to
finish this post!!!
I'm signing off on it now b4 I get to yackin' even more than I already
did!!

Dear Lori,
I may have mentioned this before, if I did I guess I just have to pound it
in, get yourself a cane or a walker. They come in all sorts of disguises
these days. The canes of course can be anything with an ornamental head in
it and can contain anything from a sword to a pint of good bourbon.
Walkers are a little more bulky, but have more support, but they also have
some that convert in to a seat, so you can pitch a chair any place.
Falls seem to come in groups, as you are finding out. Get something you
can grab on to, or at least slow yourself, on the way down. Do it. Do it
now. And train that dog. Get him a choke collar (I hate that name, it
doesn't choke the dog unless you put it on wrong. Looking at the dog from
the front, the chain should make a letter "P". If it's a "b" or a "q" it's
backwards. Never pull it tight, give it a quick jerk and it should slack
up around the neck right away. It not to choke them, it's to get their
attention when they would rather play.) and a +10 foot leash. Leather is
the best cause it stretches when you jerk it. Heel is a must command as is
stop/sit. Back up is good one too.
If only you could teach them to do the laundry.
They do the dishes quite well though--og
I actually like the "snout collars" better. A dog won't pull if you can
turn his head away from the direction he wants to go. There are also
harnasses that you tug to pull their front feet from the ground and that
won't allow them to pull you either. Some breeds of dogs have neck muscles
that can "ignore" regular collars and even choke collars. The key is
leverage, not power - especially if you're a small woman or a child trying
to lead a dog. Of course, no collar takes the place of good training.
JMHO.

Hi there,
I absofinglutely cannot believe this...I fell AGAIN....Real Hard/bad,
at least it was the other knee!!!! This is what, my 4th nasty fall in
less than 2months??!! The RSD has spread somewhat & progressed to the
weakness stage. Anyway, back to it now. I was moving away from
oncoming playing dogs & managed to slip or something on the only piece
of concrete around for quite a distance!!! I think it was just this
little square cover for something like pipes or whatever underneath
it. It didn't move or wobble or anything, just sat there waiting for
me. :scream::headpound:
This time tho I definitely DiD damage to my knee. Not only did I
leave a trail of blood but at least a dozen of the wonderful dog ppl
were there to help me up as I can't bend it nor really bear much
weight on it. I called Howie, poor guy my husb. dear of 25yrs) who's
off wrk & on antibiotics due to an upper resp. inf. sigh.
So he came & saved me , poor guy!!!
I had fortunately already set up an appt. in Sea. (2hrs. away)w/my
great PainDoc so now I have another thing to add to the list of stuff
to talk about!!! I originally was going to tell him about the new
weakness in both legs & the increase in the RSD pain in both feet w/
the r. one now as bad as the originator l. ft.
I am going to ask him to switch my morphine to something stronger if
possible...wish me luck!!! I actually can't wear the patch due to
adhesive allergy/skin breakout/down so not quite sure what to ask
for. I hate the thought of asking for oxycontin/oxycodone but I will
see what he suggests 1st so I won't sound too pushy. I honestly don't
care what it is as long as it is stronger than the 180mg dose msContin
I've been on for the last 4mos. He was always really good about
bumping my dose up to a working dose so I pray he continues!!!
Anyhow, thank you all for letting me vent...(lol, like u had a
choice??!) I'm soooo glad u r all here for all of us to be able to do
that!
Kindly,
Lori
ps-If the megalomaniac troll happens to answer this (as I expect),
just ignore. Troll patrol!
