Re: New Cato Study Advocates Eliminating Medical Licensing

perhaps...but do you want the same friend to operate on your kid's
brain...or your heart?? doubt it...

licensing is to protect the consumers from charlatans

the drug issue is entirely different...and much of what you say I agree
with....

but as a society we cannot pick and choose which should be licensed...which
as you know requires adeqate education...

you are wise enuf to know what meds may work for you...but most cannot

New Cato Study Advocates Eliminating Medical Licensing
Health-care professionals sell medical licensing to Americans as a
vital public health safeguard. But could it really be protecting
private interest groups at the expense of everyone else?

** well yes...it does protector the consumer from some untrained guy
telling you he can set your fracture..or relive bleeding in your
brain..

True, but if there are no licensing requirements for doctors then I could
get a friend to write all my prescriptions. That way I could avoid a lot
of needless trips to the doctor, a lot of unnecessary tests just so he can
show he is doing something so his rear-end is covered, and I would save a
lot of money. :-)
