My reply to what OldGoat had to say:
I couldn't agree more with what you said og. That holds true with 99.999%
of people. :) I've been doing ok.....need to have a knee replacement. Told
the ortho I will go as long as I can stand the pain though. Both knees have
arthritis all the way around them and the left one is bone on bone. But I'm
a tough ol' gal and I will be dragging myself around before I go under the
knife.
I pop in occasionally and it's always good to see you posting and being such
a good support person. I'd like to get back to that because I enjoyed it so
much. Helping someone who is new to the chronic pain arena is fulfilling.
I will never forget how devasted I was when this first happened to me. Who
knows maybe I'll surprise everyone and stop in more often....with support
like the old days. :)
Good to see ya.....keep up the good work!
Well Hey There Stranger,
How you been, Sue? Good I hope. You didn't get screwed by those
asinine state guidelines, did you? It's time for all of you to move.
Keep the Nym, but become "SWBluePenguin".
You know I hate getting involved in these leftover squabbles. I never
paid much attention to them even when the house was burning down
around me. It wasn't and still is not of a whole lot of importance
here. Sure there are unforgivable sins. Trying to get somebody else's
drugs, for instance. And the MJ letter. Which is why his Kook faq's
are not an altogether bad thing. But people do change.
People are allowed to change and should have the chance to show what
they're about TODAY. To cut somebody off without the chance, just
doesn't belong in a support group. If it's business as usual with the
person, well, we know how to deal with that now. And it's not firing
back, it's cutting them adrift. Nobody has to leave or stop posting,
just stop posting to the problem person It works pretty well.
You know it's not an opinion I share, I try not to be too opinionated
about people, but you and MJ both know it wouldn't take much digging
to find people who said the same things about both of you as you guys
are saying about Ruada. I guess that holds true for any of us. I
recall more than a few unkind posts I've written. But anybody that
would believe any of it would be wrong. And even if it was right at
the time, it sure doesn't mean it's right now.
I miss the old guard. (accent on the guard part, not on the old, of
course). Even the ones I may have had issue with. It doesn't mean I
still hold to any old opinion of them. It's a new century. Well half
decade anyway, we aren't that old. Why if RJ would show up tomorrow
(bless him, where ever he is), I'd give him a cyberkiss that would
make him think about leaving home. That's another point. Maybe I am
just an oversensitive fuddy, but none of us are getting any younger,
and if any of us are getting any healthier, nobody has dropped by to
announce it. I don't want anyone leaving this mortal coil thinking I
hate their asses. I hope RJ is safe and sound and feeling fine, but
it has been a long time and he was the most "prolific" of all of us
for a good while. Can't help but wonder and hope for the best. I
wouldn't want him or anyone thinking that they have a place where
they're not welcome that is supposed to be there for support. Not a
place I'm involved with at any rate. Yea, just a overly stuffed,
overly pacifistic teddy goat, I guess. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe the
consensus is against me, but I'm not ashamed or sorry for it. If we
remembered it was all about support, and not personal back then,
there wouldn't be an issue now. And a lot of hurt would have gone
undone. So, to today- what ya been up to? Been behaving yourself? Hope
not.
I've seen you pop up here and there, now and again, in different
places, but no place steady. I've been getting real bad with email
and getting in touch with the missing in action (I was going to throw
out some names hoping to bring people in from the shadows, but I
don't want to leave anybody out. You all know who you are). You only
have to buy one thing on Ebay and you'll never have a clean inbox
again. It's a real task just to pick through to reply, muchless sit
down and write. Another reason to want old friends, even old
adversaries, who might end up being new friends, to drift back in. I hope
this isn't going to be just a hit and run, Sue. Stick around.
You know you're welcomed by somebody, anyplace I'm at.
Don't be a stranger. My email is still the same--og

My reply to what OldGoat had to say:
I've sought out their knowledge of drug addiction in the past to
help a family member. Their knowledge in the abuse and addiction
arena helped me to better help my family member with their addiction.
Over the years we've had some of their regulars post in this group.
Like any group around, they have some respectful people and some not
so respectful people in their group. :)
It would be a shame to have a bunch of active junkies posting in
ASCP. It's been my experience with ADH that the chronic painers who
post in that group are there for a reason. They are also the chronic
painers who like to abuse their meds. That's just my opinion of what
I've seen in that group.
Hope no one takes offense at what I said, it is just my opinion.....
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone here ever drops by the alt drugs hard
newsgroup. I drop by there once in a while. They seem to have a lot
of pain people that don't know about us. They also have a lot of
junkies as well. Do you think it's out of line for the legitimate
crowd to participate
in a group where they do a lot of talking about getting high? Do you
think it would be out of line or disruptive to invite some of those
folks here? I hate to sound snobby or holier than thou, and I know
some folks
from there lurk and have posted here on occasion, often with some
hostile results. A lot of us look at abusers as the whole cause of
untreated pain, rightly or not. Ok, rightly. But that doesn't mean
there aren't legit people there we might be able to help, and you
never know, we could save someone from doing something really
stupid. But I don't want to go drawing any bad influences to this
group, and posting there will do that more than likely. This is
more than my group, it's everybody's and I don't want to go starting a
shitstorm
and making people here uncomfortable. So I want to know what YOU
think. Don't be afraid to sound pompous or holier than thou, I
think I've already done a pretty good job of that in this post. It
could effect the whole nature of the group, inviting drug abusers to
join in our
discussions (if they come). You can probably expect to see a bunch
of "I need a Dr. Feelgood", "Name this pill", "what do you say to
get narcotics from your doctor?" and "what's better, shooting
OxyContin or shoving it up your ***?" types of questions. Lots of talk
about
heroin and other illegals. So what do YOU think?
Now what do you REALLY think?--og
