Re: SCS trial tomorrow

Good for ygo ou! Glad things went well. Getting the leads in the right
place must be a real trick. I really hope I don't have to be cut on for
some time. Now all things considered I wonder if I made the right decision
not to get the rechargable battery pack. Oh well.

Glad to hear it went well for you!

Top, I had my 2nd lead moved into the PERFECT place this afternoon!! I
know I will be VERY sore later on but now I am good. I am getting
stimulation low in my feet and mid calves just where I need it. I am so
psyched. I will need some reprogramming too but for now... I am way
happy. The big question is if this will suffice when my feet are so bad
I am just curled up in tears...

After waiting more months than I'd expected by far, I finally got a
schedule for an implant trial (Friday, 10:15). While this is for the
bilateral RSD in my arms, the thing is complicated by my two severely
herniated discs, in that the normal position for this procedure
(prone) is excruciating, but I have to be conscious & feeling pain
while they adjust the leads (25 on each side).

Having originally been in on the planning for an epidural to remove
the feeling in my lower body, they've now decided to try something
else, which is to knock me out completely for the first part, and then
wake me up and put me in the least painful position possible in the
operating room (sitting, which isn't really good, but...) for the lead
adjustment. If I'm just in too much pain after being prone for the
first part, they may do an epidural on the spot, or possibly knock me
out, remove it and try again with an epidural in the future, depending
on how it goes.

BTW, I had first been scheduled for an after-lunch procedure, and I
did not like that idea at all. A highly skilled demonstration of
bitching and whining led to a re-schedule for 10:15, a much better
time for all concerned IMO. Never underestimate the power of adroit
whining :)

Wish me luck!

Good luck! Just had my permanent installed on the 25th. So far I'm happy
with it. Don't be surprised if they have to do some fine tuning on the
programing. At first mine was doing very little good but after some
tweaking it is doing much better. I'm already starting to cut back on some
pain meds which makes me very happy. Of course all could go to hell in a
hand basket but so far I am encouraged.

They put me under to start with then woke me up to get the leads placed
right. Thing is I don't remember them waking me at all. After going into
the OR the next thing I remember is waking in my hospital room.

Hope all goes well!
