Dear MJ,

Are you taking any bets? Before I give odds, I was wondering if this
doc is also the one Rxing MM.

Oh no. This one wouldn't even continue my Marinol prescription that I
had for 3 years because he said, "It's only for terminal cancer
patients."

I would never ask any doc at the big-time hospital I go to because a
long time ago I asked a neurologist there for MM and he told me to
never bring that up again because no doc at that place will ever
recommend MM. Then he wrote me the prescription for Marinol that I
had for over 3 years--till I got the new doc because of a change in
insurance.

I would hope you don't answer that as
it's nobody's business but yours, but with the fight they had in
your part of the world over MM, and the way it was done, I can see
the doc agreeing with you, but the person doing the notes feeling
it's their "medical duty" to spread the word. A self righteous
moron who doesn't give a ***, IOW. It may take more than a word of
reproach from their employer to get the message across. Keep in
touch on this, you got me curious. Would you take it as far as to
litigate it, if necessary? I know that costs money, but nothing is
worth more than fixing damage to your reputation. Something like
"history of substance abuse", now that every doc is wired to every
other doc, has the potential to spread like a virus, working it's
way to every doctor and hospital in the country. That's no small
amount of damage that could be done.

Best of luck. Keep me in the loop on how it goes--og

I sent the doctor a letter on Monday, but I haven't heard anything
back yet. I expect to get a reply in writing eventually. If they
don't do what I asked, "...the phrase "history of substance abuse"
be stricken from all of the reports that have been written about me
since I started..." I'm taking my complaint to the head doc of the
hospital. And if that doesn't work a lawsuit is definitely a
possibility. I'm not letting this slide no matter what.

I'll keep you posted.

Any chance of seeing the old doc to get the script but submitting the
script through your current insurance? I did this for a while.
Appointments were between $40 and $55 ea but it was worth it.

Nah. I haven't had a script for Marinol for more than 2 1/5 years now.
And since then my insurance has changed to where I couldn't afford to
pay for the Marinol even if I had a script. I could buy at least 3 lbs
of Mexican weed for what one month of Marinol would cost me now. (60 X
10mg = $1415)
