Dear Tami,

You can edit the quotes just by right click, highlight, and delete (instead
of drop) or you can just do what a lot of us do and ignore "convention" and
top post. It's nice to be able to scroll down and review, especially when
answering a bunch of questions, but I figure if someone is already this deep
in the thread, they have read the old stuff already, why not just open with
the new stuff.
My email is open to anyone, so if you want to send something personal, just
be sure to delete the "anti spam measure" in the address before you hit
send. I try and get to it daily, but have to admit I have been slacking off
lately. I over extended myself last weekend and I'm just getting my "stair
legs" back.

Have a pain free weekend--og

I am continually stunned by your intelligent, compassionate warrior
against wrongs soulful writing. I savor what u just wrote (& since
I'm once again runnin' on empty/no sleep I am nearly
speechless ....nearly, knowing me so well U know what that means...
(weg)! O, I forgot to mention humor...yours is always a wickedly
quick word or 3 & I have learned to watch for them! When's your book
comin' out Prez Og??!! weg!

I'll try to respond best I can in my current fog...clunk (head on
keyboard!). Thanks so much for the kudos & I honestly will come back
to respond more to your great comments on Siobhan Reynolds (my/our
hero/heroine!!!)!
All we can do is Advocate & Fight w/all we have & keep Learning so as
to be better warriors! jmo of course but rather than wallow in sorrow
or stand on the rr tracks I've learned that those things are always
there for us, available anytime but I'd prefer at this moment in time
to Fight Like Hell cuz it's Way Past Time & We Have Power In Numbers!
U sure are right about trying to round up other groups!!! I am not
sure what the abbreviations (some) of the other groups u mentioned are
but considering how many folks are on this forum, along w/the 225 at
PRN (subscribe everyone of you reading this please...it's free,
nonprofit & amazing over there & great here too...but the combo is
empowering!)...ack...nothin' like interrupting myself! Anyway, I'm
sure u all "get it"!!! Time To Fight Back !!!!
"They" (DOJ, DEA, etc.) keep circling our fires & we keep the fires
goin' to protect ourselves! Will be nice to just have some embers &
no more bull*** from "their" "laws" so we can just look at the stars
& relax! sigh...wouldn't it be nice?!
Seriously,

Dear Lori,

I'd like to see people pulled from places like the APF and some of the
Yahoo
chronic pain groups too. There no law you have to only participate in
one
group, and if egos can be left at the door (that always seems to be a
big
deal when trying to get some sort of movement going) we may actually
find
ourselves wielding some power. Next election they may even get around to
asking some Prez candidates their views on pain persecution. Can you
imagine?
4 years is a long time to debunk all the BS spewed from people like CASA
and
the DEA and show how all the numbers on statistics are distorted by
programs
like DAWN from HHS. Though I think that Health and Human Services
recently
made some changes to their so called "Drug Abuse Warning Network", I
haven't
looked through the updated collection methods, but the old system was so
screwed up, it could be why we still hear numbers from pre 2005. But
even
with their "mystery brand of mathematics" there are more people in pain
getting the shaft than there are abusing drugs. Somehow they maintain
the
opposite perception though. Of course with tens of billions of dollars
to
control the media, we could still convince people the moon is made of
cheese.
I'm glad you found some help and hope with Siobhan and her folks.
They're
good people. I'm still not so sure that as she once wrote me, "we will
see
adequate pain control in our lifetime", but everyone's lifetime is
different, as her late husband unfortunately found out. But keeping
quiet
and accepting the situation will never change it, so everyone should
know
about PRN and what they do.
You should definitely see if you can dig up that Regis show video. I
recall
Siobhan thinking she may not have done so great on the show as they gave
her
and her son like no advance notice. She tore the addiction doctor a new
one,
and then some, though. The guy came off stump dumb, and everyone was
shaking
their heads, since all he did was respond with the same lines over and
over.
It was like they were asking questions to a brick. Which was the truth
when
you get right down to it.

Keep giving them hell--og

Hi ((((Og))))!
Great to "see" you! Hey, thanks for getting me over to PRN back in
Dec. or whenever I was in my latest lowest gonna stand on the railroad
tracks mode due to abuse BY Drs here in Wa. state! U should see what
I've turned into...lol, nicknamed by Tami & Kim "Relentless" & I just
put in over 1,100+posts there since Dec.!!! omg! I've learned a lot
& continue to advocate (like I've always done here & there) & continue
to learn every day.
I had to giggle when I saw u say on this post "I'd be dragging people
over to the PRN website ( painreliefnetwork.org ) & let them explore
the wealth of info over there,..." I tried numerous times to get ppl
over there from here & there (other groups) & got a few (4 or 5) but
heck, I finally got PRN to come here & introduce themselves! lol!
I'd like to see that link from the Regis show too...I think I may have
seen it b4 but who knows w/fibrofogbog! Only good thing about
fibrofog is it makes all things new again (weg!)!!!
Kindly,
LoriBoB

Hi Tami,

I'd be dragging people over to the PRN website and let them explore
the
wealth of info over there, especially when that's where the fight is
going
on. They really should see the opening sequence if they haven't yet.
You
guys hit the nail on the head when you dumped the poppy picture for
something a bit more... militant is the best expression I can use. I
always
felt the flower was too mellow considering the war for our civil
rights
we're involved in.
Though if you can dig up that link from the "Regis and
What's-her-name"
show, where Siobhan looked like she was going to kick the
"addictionologist"
in the balls, I wouldn't mind seeing that again. That guy personified
the
closed minds and deaf ears of the people who are making the big money
on
the
war on pain that simply refuse to look at the real numbers of what is
happening. Too busy watching their bank accounts grow I guess...

Keep up the good work--og
(and welcome to all you guys from PRN)

Chronic Pain and Opioids - Debunking the Myths
Testimony of Frank Fisher, M.D. at Congressional Briefing; Washington
DC; 2004-09-18.

"What is chronic pain?

Chronic pain is a progressive disease of the nervous system, caused by
failure of the body’s internal pain control systems. The disease is
accompanied by changes in the chemical and anatomical makeup of the
spinal cord. Chronic pain is a malignancy, in the sense that when it
goes untreated, it increases in intensity and spreads to areas that
weren’t previously affected, damaging the sufferer’s health and
functioning.

Why treat chronic pain with opioids?

Opioids are substances naturally produced within the body to regulate
pain. They are commonly known as endorphins, and recognized as
producing the state of euphoria known as the runner’s high. Chronic
pain victims, who can’t produce enough opioids on their own, often
benefit from supplementation with pharmaceutical opioids.

What are the goals of treatment?

Lowering of pain levels.

Reducing suffering through restoration of functioning in life
activities, as close to normal as possible.

Arresting and reversing the damage done by chronic pain to the nervous
system and overall health of the patient.

Are opioids dangerous?

When taken as prescribed by your doctor, opioids are among the safest
drugs available.

What about those “Oxycontin deaths” reported in the media?

Oxycontin, like other opioids, is safe for patients who take their
medicine as prescribed. “Oxycontin deaths” occur in habitual substance
abusers, not patients, and are usually the
