Dear Mike,
Pain, especially chronic pain, carries it's own unique load of baggage with
it. The first thing it likes to invite in to your life after it destroys
what you had is depression. Again another candidate for a pill/Band-Aid, but
one that know less about what they're doing with than treating pain. 10 days
or 10 years it will be right along side the pain punching holes in to your
soul. You have to get beyond the depression too, and you think the pain is
tough to deal with. Marriages families and lives, just get shredded like
they were in a blender. You need to work on that too (it suddenly occurs to
me it's been 11 years for me this month. Like the birthday a few days ago,
it was not something I chose to commemorate).
But screw that judge. Glad for the award, but disabled is not the same as
worthless. There's life after pain, even if it you have to slap on Band-Aid
every couple hours (and 125 mikes of fentanyl is not bad after 10 years. We
all wish it was none needed) Did you have surgery, if not what did they
say? It's a rough deal but most of the other, non pill stuff, will only help
before they open you up and that's all a crapshoot too. I am currently
beating my head in to a wall trying to think of some non medication option
to help post surgical for another member, and all I seem to be getting is a
headache. But today is not tomorrow and you never know what someone will
come up with down the road, but you gotta get after that depression.
If you find something better for the back, don't forget to share.
Hang in there.--og
