Re: how about some help?

That's not true, Kath. I am more than happy to discuss any alternatives to
narcotics. I use meditation, distraction, relaxation, deep breathing, etc.
Anything I can think of. I do end up having to take Dilaudid sometimes, but
when I do it is only at night (I won't take it if I am going to be driving)
and no more than 7 tabs a week.

A spinal cord stimulator is a good option. They place a temporary one first,
to see if it is going to be helpful for you, before they implant a permanent
one. My doc told me that some people get a lot of relief from them, where
others are not helped at all. It just depends on the person. It certainly
can't help to try, and is a good alternative to the drugs. There are some
risks associated with it, though, that you may want to research on the web
before you make a decision about it.

I think the 'spinal shot' you are talking about may be a sympathectomy -
where they totally destroy the nerve. I have heard some horror stories about
these. again, you may want to do some research.

Have you considered a nerve block? These can be good, yet temporary, in
helping to control the pain.

Good luck, Kathy. Keep looking and researching and talking with your docs,
OK?

It's not the "I", it's not the "you", it is the "we" that gets US
