Re: The Apathetic Pharmacist

Dear Money,

The holy trinity of health care is the patient, the doctor and the
pharmacist. Any of them becomes a weak link and it's real easy to get
screwed. It takes a real *** of a pharmacist to ignore the complaints of
a patient that a certain brand of drug is not as effective as another. We
are the patient, we know better than anyone else. Unless a pharmacist is
sampling their own wares (a felony) he has no idea what he is talking about
and if anything the OxyContin suit of 2006 backs that up. Generic drugs were
not even close to the equivalent brand form of the drug and patients
complained for 3 years before anything was done. Now the big issue is
fentanyl patches. They vary widely from generic to generic to brand. What do
we get in response to our complaints? Removal of the 40 milligram methadone
tablet from pharmacy shelves.
I don't know who the next president is going to be, it looks like a 3 way
contest for losers, but someone needs to take a flame thrower to the current
incarnation of the FDA, have the balls to tell the DEA to take a hike when
it comes to public health policy and begin to regulate food and drugs in a
manner that makes sense.
And Homeland Security needs to worry about it's job, not what the FDA is
doing or even the DEA. Someone's going to fly a commercial airliner in to a
nuclear power plant, while homeland security is worrying about how many
oxycontin are left in your Rx bottle. I'm just glad I live close to the next
Ground Zero. A bright flash and 5000 degrees and I am done with this
government stupidity. I guess I'll never collect my bet on which country
we'll invade for no good reason next...

In the midst of last night's insomnia, I surfed the net and came
across something called "The Apathetic Pharmacist" which I found
interesting. Especially the section "The Pharmacists' Guide to
Scoring Narcotics." This will give a lot of us the perspective of
some pharmacists from that side of the counter. Some parts are funny,
others will piss you off. It's worth reading though.

Thanks for this post! I must say after reading his opnions that I
found myself deeply angered.

It appears that whenever one is logged into this group we are also
logged into that page so we can leave posts without even registering.
So, I left my opinion about this guy's comments and conclusions on his
page and I would love to see all of the members here voice their
opinion to this guy as well. He actually tells us guys to take a bath,
wear a suit, be late and act like we have never picked up narcotics
before whenever we pick up our meds! He tells us that about everyone
that asks for name brand narcotics have to be selling their meds and
worse. This is a good example of THE PHARMACIST FROM HELL!!

Seriously, this guy seems to have a God Complex. He tells us how to
dress and act and puts people down for recognizing a pill imprint that
is from Teva! We all know that many here to not respond well to the
Teva brand generics, but this guy acts like he KNOWS all, and that
anybody asking for name brand narcotics has to be selling them. Golly
gee, does that mean that everyone buying OTC name brand meds is
selling them too??

I urge everyone here to read his story and comment on his page. If
your logged into this group you should be able to surf to his page and
be free to post with the same handle you have here. I think he needs
to hear the other side badly!! If I had this guy filling my 'scripts I
would have to worry about him actually filling my 'scripts correctly!
He has many chips on his shoulder, so there is no telling what he
might do.
