Re: well go figure! (small vent)

top posting as well..

well, not sure if it was wrong or right.. I know from in the past, any
time, our doctor hasn't renewed, we've been notified immediately from
the doctors office and then a follow-up letter from the insurance co if
we're lucky. it states at the bottom of our insurance webpage, that it
IS the patient and doctors responsibility to make sure they are still active
on their plan.

see, each visit, each month, the gal took my insurance card to verify all
the info and never said one single word to me.. therefore I was under the
assumption they were still part of my insurance's plan.

I have a long letter I've written to the Doctor herself, as well as the
billing
department and my insurance company explaining everything that has happened.
And hell no! I don't have the money to pay out for the overdue bill. I
don't feel
it's my responsibility.. it's why I fork out money each month for my
premimums
to have insurance. I also found out that when they went off the insurance
that my
office visit's cost jumped by 45%, which is utter BS imho.. If I end up
being stuck
with this bill, I'll take it to court, but I'm only going to pay what my
insurance company
would have had to have paid.. but I don't think it will end up there... by
what the insurance
company said, more then likely, the doctor will end up dropping it, because
in the state
I live, they are required to notify me and they didn't.. so they can get
probably no more
then a slap on the wrist.. but still a repremand.. Thankfully, one good
thing in my favor.

I think your insurance company's assertion that it was your doctor's
responsibility to notify you that he was no long in their plan is wrong.
You should be able to appeal the unpaid billing on that basis and if the
insurance company won't see it your way I recommend taking it to your
State Insurance Commissioner (or equivalent).

ma-dnZ_MQrx5njvanZ2dnUVZ_uWlnZ2d@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,

2 weeks ago, I get a phone call from my doctor (the one who
I finally trained well enough that I don't have to fight to get any
medication from her now) wondering why I haven't paid my
office bill. I told her that the only bill I should have is my co-pay
which I pay each time I'm there. She asked me to hold for a few
and came back, thanked me said, yes, you've paid your co-pay
but I'm taking about your other bill. Well, I was totally confused
at this point. After a few minutes more of talking, I finally figure
it out that my insurance has been rejecting their invoices! So, I told
her that I'd find out what was going on and call her the next day.
Next day, I called our insurance co and asked what the hell was
going on ... come to find out, since June of last year my insurance
so did NOT renew their contract.. GEE!~ how bloody nice of
NO one to tell me! so, now I've racked up close to a grand in DR
bills.. which my insurance should have covered IF my doctor was
on their plan.. well, I told my insurance that was BS, and why didn't
anyone bother to let me know my dr wasn't any longer on their plan?
My insurance co told me that it was the DR's responsibility to tell me
and not theirs.. since we have a PPO and I can go to any DR, they
don't have a full list of every doctor that I see..but the DR knows
when they aren't on their plan any longer. So, I went back to my DR
and asked why no one bothered to tell me.. Well, the dR had no clue..
so I asked the lady in billing.. she's like, "well, um, I don't know."

Sooooooooooo now, there is NO way I can afford a $145.00 each month
for an office visit.. which I think is a BS cost anyhow for 15mins...
and honestly
if you were in the room with us, I do all the damn work.. telling her
what the
hell is wrong with me, what tests I need ran.. she's only good for
writing scripts
and ordering my blood work when I ask.. I'm not being cocky, I'd just
like to
find a damn doctor that does KNOW more then I do about my diseases and
actually HELP me manage my health.. be a part of my team instead of
me being the only one on my team and a secretary to write my
scripts.. *sigh* honestly,
I'm just so damn tired of being sick and in pain.

One good thing about my health.. is that it got me an additional
$13939.00 in
medical deductions from our taxes.. HAHA.. but what a crying shame
that I have THAT much medical bills a year JUST to fucking stay
alive.. The other night when I was finished with our taxes, I
actually sat down and cried because
I cost to damn much. I'd off myself, but with my luck, because if I
didn't have
bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.. I know I'd *** it up too and end
up worse
then I already am...

Oh well, thanks for letting me vent.. friday, I was able to find
another doctor..
so now me and the kid have an "interview" with them on the 6th, in a
few days to
see if they are going to be "smart" enough to work with us in our
health care management
and if I'll end up with a hassle getting my pain meds out of them..
or if they're going to try
t make me just through hoops and go to a pain management dr.. well
that aint gonna happen.
been there done that and in ohio they just give their opinion on what
medications will help
and you have to go see your GP anyhow to get the scripts, so I'm NOT
waisting another
copay for nothing.. I've had all the PT that I can stand.. well other
then a massage, :)) and
since my problems aren't neuro, I don't need a nerve block
thankfully.. mine are all from my
40yr old completely shot bones. Man getting old sure the hell sucks!

hope everyone is having a painfree day.. and take care.
