I hate to bring this up, it is a difficult thing to speak of but at times
it needs to be done.

This season has the highest rate of suicide of the year. That seems odd
as most think of the time spent with family, joy of gift giving, being
with others, throwing Christmas eggs, whatever. For some that is not
reality some though. For some the stress is tremendous. For some that feel
alone they feel even more alone. If they can't do what they feel is
appropriate stress goes up. If they have to spend the holiday away from
home stress goes up. There are so many factors that can cause stress and
suicide rates to climb they could not be listed here.

There reason I bring this subject up is to ask you to take a moment to
think of people you know and their situation. Don't rush them to the
emergency room but don't ignor them either. Do something! Ask advice from
your pastor your doctor or your guru.

I personally have not had good luck talking to doctors or other health
professionals in CA because they won't talk about it. Instead they
stop the discussion and follow a state mandated protocol which
encourages (for me) denial of any such feelings. A pastor, guru or
good friend work for me though. Anyone have luck with hotlines?

Unfortunately once when I called a hotline they sent the damn cops to
my house...surprise! ThAt made me depressed! I had to tell them "no,
I don't intend of hurting myself (I hurt enuff already!)l Seems like
all any of "them" do is suggest I call 911. My psychologist is the
best tho...he knows me well & has compassion. He tells me stuff like
"of course you're hurting...look at all the garbage hoops you're being
made to jump through. Promise you'll call me back in 10min." Stuff
like that helps. I pretty much stay on the phone or talk to someone
till I get thru the worst of it. TY all cuz u listen & have got me
through this latest one!!

ps-the way I can tell a good prof. from a bad is if they say "uh huh"
at the wrong time!
