Are you or have you ever been a healthcare professional of some sort?
Mike
Either he is good (and fast) at researching issues and compiling
replies or he is connected to healthcare in some capacity or both.
Mike
It is interesting that you see that, Mike. When I first saw your
message I figured this was the reason you were asking and since I did
not feel the same I went back about two weeks and read or re-read his
posts to see if I gleaned that from his messages.
I did not.
Anybody else care to comment on this?
huh...don't you notice the gaps in his answers? I think he was in
combat at the tail end of
Vietnam, because he mentioned something about a POW camp. He may have
been a medic for a while...but, he had to be quite young, if he id
serve in Vietnam, because my arithmetic puts his ae at 53.\
My guess? He just does a lot of research because this group provides
a bit of a challenge. A lot of people have learned a lot here. He
also said that he 'really researched' his illness-during the time he
was looking for a pain doctor. He also claims to have helped a lot
of people here-that could be true, because he did accept a small
circle of 'acquaintances' (see? I didn't say 'friends' Wolfie.). But
his main job, after leaving the service, was with a recycling
company. He may have quit-a while back, Juba and I, in a rare
alliance, said we were going to get him fired. When we started to (on
my side) pretend to keep logs of when he posted during working hours,
he went ballistic, posted one of the ugliest posts ever seen
here...and left for about three months.
I kind of feel bad about it-but it allowed me to rethink,my position,
and not have to justify everything I said here-he'd even challenging
that-no one 'speaks' here. I still have the page with the awful stuff
on it-Juba didn't keep it up for long, and I wanted to have a record
of it.
I'm not justifying myself-it as a pretty nasty thing to do. But, in
the end, it worked out OK for me, and he seems to have regained his
old stamina. I could use the reason used by children-of all ages -"He
started it". (Well, he did.) But, I don't think he has that much
formal medical training-I could be wrong, but there just wasn't that
much combat time, during his career. His big thing, in making a living
after the service, was in recycling-and, he did ry to recycle himself,
I guess-coming back under a new name. I find it's usually best to
ignore him-that's me he gets along with some people. But, no one
needed to have worried about Lori. I told her privately, who he was-
and, she remembered his original nym, and remembered him.
So, I write a novel, when I could have given a yes or no answer. oh,
well...won't have to discuss him for a while, I guess.

Wow! That's amazing. I guess I'm dumb to not have assumed that the
Group history goes way back. I get the feeling that what you wrote
only scratches the surface with regard to the Group/history.
I guess I've been oblivious to the history, but maybe that's a good
thing in some ways.
Thanks for the enlightening response anyway, Legend.
Don't mention it. It just gave me a chance to put some of the past in
perspective.
The group had survived at least 2 major flame wars before I arrived!
And, I didn't mean to stay, when I came. I was only going to answer
one post, that had been circulated outside the group. I didn't look
further then that.
So, 3 years later, I'm still here. I've thought of leaving, even
temporarily, but its the sort of place where you don't want to miss
anything.
Lori's response to Wolf is one of the reasons I think that 'peace at
any cost' (which many people have been pushing for, since the last
major flame war) is NOT always the best policy. If I didn't have her
real email addy, and.or she hadn't invited people to write to her, I
would have answered her openly. Oh, he stops eventually-if the people
he centers on don't start ignoring him, first, but with some people,
he succeeds in humiliating them, and/or getting them to tel more than
they really should, or feel comfortable with. If she had told him
right off where to get off, I wouldn't have made a point of writing
about him.
I've also read some archives. But, I seldom trust them for the
absolute 'truth', and, when I refer to them. always preface the
statements with something like 'this was posted before I got here'.
Well, glad to have been of help. I was here, for what I wrote about-
except i only saw his own claims of having helped people. I never
heard an actual testimonial. Which doesn't prove an untruth.
I don't hate the guy, but I think he can so some damage to those who
are naive about him.
Again, I'm glad to have been of any help. You may want to visit the
archives-for your own enlightenment. I don't gp back very far!
