Is the purpose of holding these arguments in here to
gain votes so whichever side of whatever matter has a bigger
following?
Not really. Actually, I have no following, nor do I want one. I'll be
friendly to people; I'll treat people the way they treat me, but I'm not
looking to make friends with anyone here. I have a life, so I don't need
to make friends here and I've been burned by people here who claimed to
be my friend. I won't mention any names in regards to that or in the
rest of what I'm about to say, but I am going to try to explain what is
really going on here.
Strictly in terms of this newsgroup, the fighting is about convincing
others not to listen to what a person is saying/has said about you by
trying to impeach their character.
But also what is said in this newsgroup can have the effect of polluting
the public record of someone.
I started the Kook Faq after being subjected to several years of people
engaging in systematic assassination of my character, through posting
thousands of messages containing lies and personal information about me.
When people post lies or personal information about someone in a public
space like this, it's not the same as having an argument with someone in
your living room. The things that are said in this room last forever.
They are archived by Google and other services and are available through
any search engine. Every post is, in essence, a web page.
So anyone who claims that making a web page about someone is an
escalation in tactics is either really stupid or really dishonest. The
Kook Faq is not the cause of the fighting. In fact, the Kook Faq is the
only reason that there has been any peace here. The Kook Faq is what has
enabled me to step away from a fight, so that my opponents can get the
last word in as many times as they feel they need to. Once they are
satisfied that they've convinced everyone here that I'm a bad person who
should never be listened to, they finally shut up.
And make no mistake about this, I am always the one who backs off first.
Always. Otherwise there would never be any periods of relative quiet
here. The fighting went on continuously for several years before I
created the Kook Faq and then stopped responding to the constant attacks
on me.
Now, I won't get into why certain names are on the Kook Faq, even though
they are trying to convince everyone here that it's entirely
unjustified, and that if it weren't for the Kook Faq there'd be no
fighting. That's simply not true. The Kook Faq certainly didn't start
this last battle. It was started by an anonymous post by someone who did
it because they wanted to stir things up again and they knew I'd be
blamed for it.
The archives can never be cleansed of all of the lies and personal
information that has been posted about me, and therefore the Kook Faq is
also never coming down. Period. I re-evaluate the inclusion of some
names from time to time, and I remove pages when I feel sufficient time
has passed. However, there are some names that are never coming off
because their trespasses against me or others are too extensive or too
grievous.
Those who think that they could completely ignore the attacks on them or
just forgive and forget everything that has happened in the past, don't
have thousands of pages in the public record containing lies and
personal information about them. The best I can do for the people here
who are not involved and who need this group for the purpose it was
created, is to back off shortly after a fight starts and make my case
via the Kook Faq, rather than continuing to fight it out here.
Those who wish to portray me in a negative light so as to marginalize me
in the minds of the "silent majority" will have plenty to say about this
post, but I've said all that needs to be said on this subject and I will
not be reading or responding to anything they say.
