I am sorry you have had some bad experiences here. It is so important to
ignore the bad and take the good. Members of this group have saved my
life more than once. I have gotten some sound advice here too. I just
ignore the bad. I get enough of that from health care unprofessionals.
Try the ignore trick and stick around. Just say no to replying to bad
posts.

You're right of course, Mike.
I'm glad this has turned into the kind of place where help can be found,
and I fervently hope those miserable headaches are under control one day
soon!

I don't know if this will help but I don't think it could hurt. When you
first feel that twinge that tells one is on the way start relaxing
everything. Start at you toes and work your way up. Like I said, it may
not help but it won't hurt.

SInce being here in 2005 (February) I have made one decision in terms
of the arguments....not to read enough to become involved or have an
opinion, or to feed the fire. I used to have more than my share of
arguments with ZW upon arriving, but thats my own thing, and I really
dont worry about it, I will have an honest deabte with anyone as well,
as long as it stays on point and not personal. I am just mentioning
this to make the point that I havent always been saintly and never
harsh at all.
Now to the direct point of all the current arguments, to which I know
very little, and wish to know less, so please....no attempts to
educate me about them...again I say please, for one simple reason....I
simply dont care. Is the purpose of holding these arguments in here to
gain votes so whichever side of whatever matter has a bigger
following? I personally am not here to be converted by anyone to
anything. I dont care about what someone did to you anymore than
anyone here cares about an argument I had with a neighbor 3 years ago.
This all really resembles a campaign for office that never comes to an
election. Perhaps an election would sate you all for the moment, but
within a week it would be back to another unending cycle of trying to
prove that youre just a little more right than the other person. From
what I can tell the people of like mind have their followers, and the
rest of us wish youd just shut the hell up and get back to the issue
at hand. Ive said before, I was the leader of a support group for
Restless Legs Syndrome. It doesnt make me better than anyone, but it
works as a fine example. We met in person in the Sunday School Room of
a church which was kind enough to let us meeet there once a month. We
had speakers. Doctors, Therapists, Alternative and Holistic treatment
advocates. Most of the time we just shared our experiences, good and
bad without anyone pretending to be an expert at anything other than
themselves, and the biggest arguments that would arise were over who
would bring what refreshments next month. My only point in mentioning
this is that we had a productive discussion, and people tend not to
have such hateful diatribes when they have to be face to face when
commuicating.
As I said before, I dont claim to be saintly, as I know for myself
that I am shot full of flaws. But I also know enough to not beat my
head against a wall, and how to see when its happpening. If these
arguments are not to gain some sort of political foothold within the
group, I suggest that all concerned parties for a group called
alt.support.people.who.have.major.issues.with.each.other. That way
you are free to have your disputes without all of the annoying "why
dont you stop this" posts that the majority of the rest of us
contribute, if we bother to read/respond at all. It also gives us the
blessed freedom to stick to chronic pain, and sometimes the off topic
silliness or informational posts that give us something else to focus
on other than the issues our conditions bring us without a half page
of he said/she said posts. Another bonus it allows is, it will also
give all of us the opportunity to visit the "octagon" or not, and if
we choose to visit, we have nothing to complain about.
The short of it is this. I have rarely if ever seen anyone "win" an
argument. I see lots of losing. I have never changed anyones views
over to mine, and Ive never seen ity happen for anyone else either, I
always sum it up in one of my favorite saying...I made it up myself
(yay), here goes..."you can piss in the ocean all day if you choose,
but you're mistaken if you think you'll ever turn it yellow"
Deus Vobiscum,
-dave
p.s. I apologize for any I offended, wasn't my intention, I just felt
if I didnt make my feelings known, Id have no right to complain, and
even more...I really dont know who all the argument folks are.....and
guess what, I dont even want to know.
