I have been getting OxyContin for 3 years from my new Insurance.I fought to
get brand name, since the generic does not seem to give me as good relief as
the Brand name.

I take 7 other meds for pain and depression.
Has anyone's Ins.Co set a limit for the amount of Oxy's they allow a
month??

I now get 100's a month.If I increase I will have to pay.What I get now is
over 4 Grand,Plus my other meds.Last month my meds were over 6 Thousand
Dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in Advance
Doug

Hope everyone is getting some relief from their meds.
Have a pain free day!!!If possible!!!!!

I have found that the different insurance companies put restrictions on the
number of pill per day that they will cover.
Usually they will not cover more than three pills per day without prior
approval.
I have an employment related injury that the insurance company agreed to pay
for lifetime pain meds and I think that they are restricted by the state
laws from refusing to pay for the meds that the doctor Rx's, even if they
are more than three a day. Before this agreement, my private health care
insurance refused to pay for more than 3 pills per day of any one medication
My breakthrough medication is written for up to 8 per day and they did not
say a word (that I know of) about the 248 pills a month as opposed to the 90
they would rather pay for.

I did find that on more than a few occasions the generic Oxycontin did not
release the medication as advertised. The pharmacists did not give a
diddly-squat when I told them about it. I have not yet had that problem
with the brand name Oxycontin pills.

It is my understanding that the Oxy generics are again illegal to make. The
companies may continue to sell any inventory that they had prior to the most
recent court order. Which I think is pretty dumb to allow the manufacturer
to sell the balance of their inventory. I think, legally, that they should
have been required to stop selling and destroy all inventories of the
illegally manufactured pills the day the court order was filed. But that
is not really the topic here.
