.....
Hawk, you made my heart very quiet and grateful. Thank you for the
re-centering. It was much needed. I was so busy flying from top to bottom
that i forgot what the center is.
Thanks for the anchor!

Lavon

after reading Vonnie's post...first good,,,then awful...before I could
post to her (yesterday).....
several things happened.....that made me stop and wonder about MY
priorties...
am at our desert house...hubby is at home (you know the 68 year one who
has survided a major heart attack,,,angioplasty,,stents ...then open heart
surgery...AND a colon resection for a malignant polyp...all in past 5
years....we really were counting our blessings...but continuing to wait
for another shoe to drop..
on weds here in the desert...3 17 year olds left school at 3:20...and were
dead by 3:30....lost control...wrapped around a tree in the median...all
had on belts..no alcohol or drugs involved...3 young lives wiped out
then last night at 6p...my sister called from the other house and told me
she ALMOST had to take my hubby to the ER...he called her at 5pm and said
(in his casual way)..."should I be concerned that my blood pressure is
180/90 and pulse is about 50??? " well yeah....call 911...he wouldn't..."I
don't have any chest pain"...etc...men are such deniers...she told him to
drink something salty and with electrolytes (he was dehydrated)..then she
got in her car and drove to 22 miles to my house...by the time she got
there he really was better..good color etc..and his vitals were
stable....yikes
she calls me as she is driving back home...and tells me that on Weds
afternoon her 17 year old twins...both distance runners were at a track
meet...a 14 year old freshman girl was 2 miles into a 3 mile run...she
stopped..vomited...then collapsed...by the time the coach got to her..she
was in FULL cardiac arrest...coach is a trained paramedic and started
CPR...as the paramedics arrived within minutes the girl was in the heart
rhythm that needs the defig...they shocked her three times...and continued
manual cpr as they rushed her to an ER maybe 4 miles away...
she is dead....14 years old....
my nieces and the entire team witnessed it all of course..and one of the
twins cried to her mom that evening.."I didn't know I could die running"
my sister happened to call our brother thurs evening...he reports that his
17 year old THAT day was driving home from school with 3 buddies...lost
control on a parkway..hit a tree..and the car rolled over several
times..ended up upside down in 3 feet of water in a gutter...thank god all
4 were belted...no one was seriously hurt..car is totalled...no drugs or
alcohol involved...
sorry to have to vent....and Vonster I will email you off list..I feel
awful for you....but please try to hang in...you are alive..yes in
pain...but the alternative is not too great either ( young kids dying
etc)..
I know you and Chris are religious and get a lot of strength from your
faith and your church....ask God for help to get you thru this...it is not
fair..sometimes life is really not fair..
but it could be worse ......love ya
