Dear Mike,
About time some good news came your way, man. But you know after a little
while, even adequate pain medication becomes unsatisfying. You want a
permanent cure, you want to be back to what you were before pain moved in to
live with you. This new doc at least listened. He may have some ideas on
something better, more permanent than meds, or at least something to try.
Good to hear--og
OG,
I am trying to live with a higher pain level after my last doctor
abandoned me. Unfortunately for me I tend to use food as a treatment.
Especially when I am in a lot of pain. Sweets stay down and defy
nausea for some reason. I have resisted the urge to increase my
medication and the bupropion (Wellbutrin) is keeping me from getting
too depressed about my situation.Of course all this may change but for
now I just want the docs out of my life as much as possible.
I still haven't gotten all of my health record from the doctor who
abandoned me. Her office acknowledged that they didn't send parts of
my record with no explanation. They told this to my wife. I am trying
to avoid direct communication with them because I am so mad at her for
what she did. I just don't trust any of them anymore.
My pain doctor does not seem inclined to up my medication. His comment
about that is "If you are taking a high dose now what will happen when
you are 70 and in pain?" When I asked him about alternatives to
ms-contin he tried to refer me to another doctor. He is close and all
the other pain doctors are much further away (25 miles). The cause of
the pain at the base of my neck is unknown. The rest of my neck pain
comes from pinched nerves. Life just sucks; life is not fair.
By the way, my reply to his upping dose question was: It's simple doc.
If I cannot get adequate relief I won't have to worry about pain when
I am 70, i'll be long gone by that time. He hasn't said it to me again
(so far.)
Mike
