Oh, puh-leeze!!!

So, since some people calling themselves Muslims, did some baaad
things..now, a mslim has to live better, work harder, and do they
very verry best to prove that nno, suh, it's not them who's flying
planes into buildings and all that ***. oh, no...they's the good
ones! And so have to prove it by little things, like abiding the
internet law, teaching they fellow Muslims, stayn' away from
pot(?)..well,maybe not that much'-but; you get the idea. They should
be Muslin equivalents of ;Uncle Tom.'.

Absofuckinlutely, the more the mainstream Muslims move away from their
radical brethren the better it will be for both the world & them.

How many Muslims do you know in THIS country who are extreme,
and not horrified by what those who know little of their religion
assume of them?

Every Imam in every nook & cranny of the world needs to come out
calling for a unified Fatwa on any an all who preach that violence is
a legitimate means to an end in the name of any religion. They also
need to make it known that Martyrdom isn't the express train to heaven
& 72 Virgins, but 72 armed Virginians.

How do you know what the conservative Muslims are preaching?

The ones I know are (like Christians who aren't obnoxious), living
their lives with tolerance, and showing by example what their true
religion is about.

Im dumb enough to keep dipping my toe into this pond. Not living in
New York or any other site with an exceptionally large Islamic
population, But I am in between 2 College towns....one small, one
huge... I havent personally known any Muslims that I thought were even
remotely dangerous, but I have know a number who are truly terrified.
Interestingly, in Chicago 3 weeks after 9/11, I got into a cab with
an Iranian driver who spent the 30 minute drive telling me how much he
loved America, and all Americans...he acter like he was afraid I'd
hiJack the cab or something (I did negotiate a cheaper ride out to
Irving Park from Downtown however) Thats about the extent of my
direct exposure....I do read, and yes I've take many differing
religion classes, Geopolitical Science and all the stuff you pat
yourself on the back for having stayed awake thru.

I do have to say...I think its time to direct our religous war efforts
to the differing factions of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. That's
where its really at.

Yes, the flying spaghetti monster makes as much sense as anything
discussed so far-more.
I live in New York and, yes, Muslims were treated badly-and were
scared. The driver probably thought he HAD to keep praising the
US...could you imagine,one with chronic pain-criticizing the
government as much as we do?

I haven't actually tried reading Arabic-although I've given Hebrew a
try, and did pretty well with koine greek-the languages of the Bible.
And devout Muslims require that the Koran e read n it's original
language-and I've hesrd from many sources-Arabic IS a difficult
language. In fact, I believe it's only the spoken language of a few
places-Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and probably the small counties on the
Arabian peninsula. Iran, afghanistan, and some others speak Farsi.

Well, this ahs been a heated thread for me. I'm trying with others-
but they're not growing like this-or else they are talking about a
support subject that I can't add to-except to say 'talk it all out
with your doctor' and 'if surgery is involved, get a second opinion'
which i'd say to almost anyone.

You have a healthy attitude, dave-don't let anyone intimidate you.
even me.
