Dear Stew,
Don't worry about withdrawal. Keep taking your meds as directed and you will
never see it. A lot of people get worked up over the drugs name- oxycontin,
methadone, or morphine. The only important thing is if it's doing the job of
keeping you out of pain, forget the rest.
When the time comes (and it may not) to taper down and off the methadone,
they do make a 2mg tablet that you can break in half. Once you are down and
feeling comfortable on a half dose, they can drop it to every other day. And
so on till you're taking nothing. But that's really unimportant compared to
treating the pain and the CRPS today. Don't let anyone make you trade relief
for their view of political correctness. It's OK to take these meds if you
have a legitimate need for them.
Take it easy--og

Hi-
I have been prescribed 2.5 mg of methadone a day for CRPS. (The CRPS
was a result of my double spinal fusion which has been a huge success,
but that's another story). I am concerned because I have read horror
stories about withdrawal and don't want to go through it. However, I
am also aware that I am on an extremely low dose. Since I am severely
sensitive to medication, I worry a little.
Your thoughts?
