A friend of mine sent me this link. Although it's about 3 weeks old,
I wasn't aware that the Duragesic manufacturers had actually settled
any lawsuits. This article says nothing about improper use or how
many times illegal drugs, or legal ones not authorized by the doctor
were involved:

Wow-another killer drug-so named because, in many cases, it's the only
authorized drug in the' victim''s systemQ
Hmm, all I get is generic BS, must have been upper class dumbass ODing, Oh
he didn't use iut correctly, too bad, excuse please...Joe
Seeing that this article was on an ambulance chasing attorneys
website, I kinda doubt they will post my comment on the story, but ya
never know. These are my feelings on this, some may disagree. Heck I
may have left out many key parts to make its point to render it to
nonsense, please forgive me if its so, it was late.
I think that in most of these cases the "victim" compromised the
delivery system of the patch to seek a "high" from the patch. Was the
"fatal patch" shown as evidence? What was the victims use profile? Did
they test for other substances, or try to obtain discarded previous
patches to see how correctly those were used or misused. For those of
us in Chronic, Intractable pain, these devices are a Godsend. I would
hate for an irresponsible few, and the flood of money seeking copy
catters get this very useful tool removed from the market for those of
us who have a legitimate need, and exercise responsible use of this
product. If indeed this person's or anyones death was caused by poor
manufacturing, I would want the company to answer for it, not merely
thru suits, but in quality standards, but speaking as a person who has
used the patch for over 6 months, Ive not noticed any such problem at
all.
