I have had several MRIs, but am told to just continue with pain
management. I have had the cortisone shots, but they never seemed to
help that much, and now my surrent insurance only pays 85%, and they
are so expensive -over a 1000 bucks, so I have to pay 15% of that for
one shot, can't really afford that. I hear about other people getting
different treatments, and wonder why I am only being treated with
various meds. I have decided to try the topamax, because I am
desparate for relief, and if I have bad side effects, I will quit. I
had been put on effexor for the nerve pain, but the side effects were
awful, so I quit that, which was not easy. Unfortunately, it did help
my pain. I live in Cleveland, so you would think I could get good
care, what with all the medical facilities and cleveland clinic. I
guess I would be better off having a heart attack!
Also it is very hard to get pain meds here, like even vidoden, let
alone oxycontin. Did the microdiectomy help the pain?
I have seen ortho surgeons, and they just told me to continue with
pain management.
thanks for replies obiemsue
I really think you're on the wrong meds. I've tried those nerve meds and
they just don't work. I think you should see a good pain specialist and keep
trying until you do. It's kind of hard for me to believe that a orthopod
would not want to do fusion if your spine is that messed up. Sure there's a
chance other discs could go but you're not getting the help you need right
now and you shouldn't have to live in pain all the time. We all do it but
most of us keep looking for the doctors that will treat us for who we are.
Top is right that you'll need to change your life. Those days of lifting any
old thing are gone and once you get on track you'll have to stay on track.
So please keep looking because there are doctors out there no matter where
you are that know what to do. Good luck and let us know.
