I may have RSD, that is if then next test my Dr. wants to run on me is
negative. That test is for ovarian cancer which I don;t think is
possible. No women in my family have had ovarian cancer & I know that
means little - I just don't believe it is so. I have had FM for over
26 years. A month and half ago my right foot began to swell and now
my entire leg is swollen and painful. My foot is red and boy is it
ugly. My son's wedding is comming up and I wonder how I will be able
to buy shoes. I am afraid they will think I have something catching.

RSD can be extremely painful, and is rated as being one of the most
painful things a human can experience. Please don't put your health on
the line just to be at a particular social function or another. I know
it can be extremely difficult to do this, but perhaps you could
carefully describe the reality of your situation to your son and future
DiL and explain to them that atempting to force your foot into a tight
shoe or stand on that bad foot could severely exacerbate this
condition. This is the absolute worst thing you can do! This website
has a graphic of the McGill Pain Index, which rates RSD (causalgia) as
just below the pain of labor and gives an explantion of what it is.
Perhaps if you showed this to them they would understand the severity
of what you're dealing with.

Although I don't have RSD myself I know people who do and from the way
they describe it, it makes my pain look like a walk in the park (No
cruel pun intended). That website has a lot of info you may find
useful:

Of course my mind is frozen on a ovarian mass they are looking for.
Yesterday I avoided going to a funeral - if that means I am coward and
my faith is weak - then I am a cowardly. I doubt the hostess will mind
if I miss her funeral, she was a kind lady. Maybe we can have that cup
of coffee we never seem to have time for. She was a female Job. I kid
you not. Her last few decades were spent in painful muscle spasm of
Parkinsons, if fact she was frozen in place her face in a permanent
cry. Last year she lost her husband who drove 60 miles to be at her
side every day. We thought he would outlive her but thankfully she now
is with him..

It is most certainly not cowardice. It is perfectly natural to avoid
things which can exacerbate your health problems. It takes strength to
do what you have to do in the face of social pressure to do attend
events which may exacerbate your condition, but I hope you will be able
to continue to do so without guilt or shame, as you have absolutely
nothing to apologize for. Those who love and respect you will
understand, and those who don't, well....

If it is cancer. If it is incurable. I would just like to be here has
long as my family needs me then I will take enough medicine to put
myself to sleep forever. I do not want my children to have to see me
wither away and my husband to grow old with grief. He is a good man &
we have been married 31 yrs. But emotionally he is not strong. When
our pets had to be put down I had to take them to the vet and bring
them home. I see this no different. So I hope it's not cancer, maybe
this is the way God is showing me "What do you want cancer or RSD?" I
hope he gives me a choice.

So sorry you have to go through this, angelsong. It is terrible indeed
to have to contemplate such horrible and terrifying choices! I hope
they can maybe find better choices for you, such as treatment for your
RSD. Please don't jump to conclusions about your ovarian mass as it
could be any number of things, and even if it is cancer may yet be
curable. Don't give up!
