AMEN. Well stated as usual Sean.
I hope we'll be free to tell them to stick it without engendering bad
repercussions for ourselves one day soon.
I know many who've found a pain doc, have to jump through numerous
and costly hoops just to stay on their meds. Still others are still
searching for just one doc whose eyes don't glaze over in frost when
they see the meds we've taken in the past.
Thanks, Codeee. Even here in New York, where we allegedly have the
highest per capita rate of doctors in the country, it can be extremely
difficult to find a doctor who understands chronic pain or the various
conditions that lead to it, let alone one who's willing to treat it
aggressively with narcotics if necessary--which it often is. Less than
35 percent of New York doctors even have the requisite triplicate pads
for prescribing the heavy duty stuff, but I read a study once that
showed that 66 percent of doctors nationwide would be willing to give a
lethal injection to a convict on Death Row--for the appropriate fee, of
course. Their "morality" only arises when it comes time to do something
that isn't in their self interest. I know I like to doctor-bash a lot,
but it is stuff like this that feeds my cynicism.
