Dave, sorry you are having such a tough time of it. I know exactly what you are talking about with knowing your limits. I have the same problem... I am up at 3:40am! It's been a very long week, I have friends visiting and work is very busy. These all add up to... too much pain for me to deal or sleep. I am laying here in bed with my fave polartec socks that have a bottom pocket. In the winter, sometimes, I have the included microwavable bean bags that smell great. Now I have ice packs in them and my feet are getting a bit better. That and some pain pills... I could really use a three day weekend and a four day work week... Too bad my bank account doesn't agree. At least tomorrow is Friday and I know I can make it even if it will be really close! :-(
Take care of yourself and feel better ASAP!

patch...this for me is as close to ideal as its ever been...no I cant
go for more than about a 30 foot walk (with cane or walker), but by
comparison it works well. I like methadone because it is sooooo long
acting. As ive seen others say, i often end up with extra at months
end due to this. On oxycontin, I never forgot a dose, since i would be
hurting 3 hours before it was due. With methadone, Ive forgotten
morning or evening doses quite often. The big caveat to methadone is
it demands huge respect. due to its very long half life, taking an
extra here and there can get you into trouble in a delayed, sneaky way
from my understanding. Before I had the patch added to it, my rule
was, only one extra methadone per week, and it had to be gosh darned
necessary. Now that the patch has been added, I only get spikes if im
too active....too much walking, sitting, standing, but Ive grown
accustomed begrudgingly to my limits. Today i went beyond a bit, so im
still awake trying to ease enough to sleep. My new fear is i will soon
be seeing a pain specialist, who i fear may mess up this working
plan...and spinal injections do not sound like anything i want, I know
a tens unit is bad for me....and i just dunno about pumps. I do minor
physical rehab..as im able, meditate and pray, and do lots of
repositioning to aid in things....i dont go for accu(voodoo)puncture,
or biofeedback (which i thought was debunked in the 80s)...but enough
about me, thats what i know about methadone....and search the web,
theres lots of good reading on the subject.
Deus Vobiscum,
