Thanks Nick, Juba and Joe_Z.
Thank you all for replying. Nick I have a VA Center about 45 minutes from
me. I have a service related condition. The only time I've delt with them
was when I was being evaluated for disability. That wasn't much but the
Doc doing the eval was civil at least.
When my wife leaves her present job (hopefully not any time soon) I'll
have to go that route. When that time comes I hope I'll find a Doc as
great
as yours 8-). Have you taken any scripts from your VA Doc and had them
filled by a civillian pharmacey? If so did you have a co-pay or have to
pay out of pocket? How hard time wise is it to get into see your PM Doc?
How about diagnotic procedures, did you have to wait very long to get to
have things like MRIs and such done?
Thanks for taking the effort to provide your insight. I appreciate you
working to send this reply.
May you all have a pain free day!

Hi Top,
Sorry for not responding sooner, like I said it gets difficult. I am very
blessed to have my primary care Doc but I should have mentioned to you that
she only works at the V-A on Fridays! Once in awhile on a Thursday too but
the rest of the time she works for a Hospital that is willing to pay for a
full time staff vs. what seems like a skeleton crew of real Doctors with
allot trainees at the V-A. I have not taken any scripts from a VA Doc and
tried to fill them by a civilian pharmacy cause the VA has there own
pharmacy and wont pay an outside source for something they can order
themselves. If they don't have something they carry in stock they will have
it shipped to you from their source. If the VA does not carry or
discontinues an item such as my situation the Lidoderm patches, if you have
outside health insurance you can ask your VA Doc to give you a script but
then you have to deal with whatever copays you have with the health
insurance you chose to use. It was very difficult getting into PM and even
staying in! At one point they were going to discharge me cause they felt
they tried everything they can do but thank God my Primary Care Doc
intervened. Funny you should mention MRI's. If I fit into a regular MRI I
would probably be seen right away as they are on the premises. I have a
large frame so they had to do some paperwork in order to outsource to a
facility that carries open MRI's. That was hit or miss, sometimes it was
delayed months other times it went really smooth. CT, X-Rays, Sonograms,
Labs, etc... are done promptly. Also have to say Records Release has been
doing a fantastic job with the paperwork for Binder and Binder, my attorneys
for SS Disability. In conclusion getting appointments scheduled and the VA
pharmacy both need allot of work. God Bless and feel well.
Nick
