Re: Oxy Tolerance

Last year at this time 40 to 50 mg per day of oxycodone in any form
controlled whatever pain I had (post surgery hip replace, pre-sugery
knee replace, back etc). Now I am up to about 170 mgs a day for even
less pain control. Is this unusual? This is bothering me alittle but
my physician is especially not happy. I suggested the doc try opioid
rotation but she said she is not expert enough and wants me to see a
pain specialist. Is a build up like this unusual? Does it ever stop?
What is a pain specialist likely to do? I did not like these meds at
all and then my doc put me on Lexapro....now I find I like them...am I
getting addicted? I seem to have lost my fear and anxiety of these
meds.
what is a pain specialist likely to do? I guess that depends on what
the goal is. Is the goal to control some long term chronic pain, or is
the goal to detox you off oxycodone, since you were prescribed it only
for post op pain. It would help immensely doon, if you had some clearer
idea of the goals. I am going to read between the lines and extrapolate
your intentions which appear to really be to get some help. you want
help. help with what? it seems you may be saying you feel your
exhibiting some addictive tendencies. I would use that as a starting
point in your discussions.
Good Luck man.
