So, here's the deal. I've been on various pain meds, herbal supplements,
epidurals, Bi-polar radio frequency nerve ablation, acupuncture, etc, and it
is all coming down to the "next step", spinal cord stimulation. This is all
for my right SI-joint. I wasn't even aware I had one till about 3 years ago.
Common story.
The question is, are there any of you folks out there that have been
successful with it?
I've had an SCS for almost 5 years now and it has helped me. I have very
painful neuropathy that goes from my toes to just below my knees in both
legs. I still take some pain meds, but nothing close to what I took before
the implant. Before I got my SCS I was taking so many drugs I just wandered
around in a stupor all day. Now I am able to function and have a somewhat
normal life back.
I will tell you that SCS is not successful for everyone, though. That is
why it is VERY important that you go through the 10-14 day test period. The
Dr. will place the implants and then connect the wires to an external unit.
This will give you 1-2 weeks to give the SCS unit a try before they
permanently implant the battery unit. This trial is period is VERY
important and not something to be skipped.
I wish you well and hope that SCS will give you the relief you seek.
Scott
