Is this endemic?

My pain doctor seems very adamant to get me off of methadone, and fast. He says it's a danger to my heart. I believe that, but I've been on it for many years and I don't want to get rushed into an alternative, as he has a bad habit of prescribing much less medication when moving a patient to a different medication. (For example, he tried to convince me that oxycodone would last up to 8 hrs. a day. It didn't. It barely made it to 3 hours at a time. Also, he under dosed me by giving me 30 mg. IR Roxicodone 3 to 4 times a day to cover 10 mg. methadone six times a day.
How stupid do I look? (Don't answer that!).
Anyway, I'll be going back to see what else he wants to try on May 10. Any input would be appreciated.
