Joe,
I have been put thru painfully thorough testing by my doctors. Many of the
tests were repeated a few times.
Every test that was available, current and obsolete, were performed on me.
I became very ill from all the tests that I allowed myself to be submitted
to. A few times they had to stop testing for a month or so, because I was
so ill from the tests.
I have a generic IBS. But every single doctor said that they have never
seen a healthier colon than I have (had). No one has an explanation to the
reason for the problem. All that is done now is to treat the symptoms.
Please believe, I have had every test (at least once) that every doctor
could think of

I am on 300mg/day of oxycotin and 30 mg of oxycodone.
The only times I have had constipation problems is when I went on Adkins.
In spite of the high doses of opiates I take, I still go 4-6 times a day
and
the dreaded D is a constant companion.
I have been through every test imaginable to find the problem and all the
GIs tell me is that I have the healthiest colon that they have ever
examined.
But after the couple odd bouts of constipation, I have had to deal with, D
is not that big a problem to me (and actually much preferred)
I guess it does not bother me as much because I am home-bound now and not
still trying to run a business with the D. Although it can interferer
with
the soaps :o)
You mention that your colon is healthy but hopefully your doc's
conducted tests beyond a GI series. There are conditions that produce
'D' in spite of a healthy colon.

It started finally, that constipation I see people talk about.
I've been taking 2tabs morning and night of a 'stimulate laxative' and
a 2 colac stool softeners morning and night and it doesn't work well
at all.
Bowel movements are at best once every 4 days.
I think this may be harming me, to be constipated for this long.
I bought a bottle of 'magnesium citrate' to drink as an emergency. It
worked in the past but I wasn't taking these opiate kind of medicine
back then.
I'm looking for a medical way to solve this problem if possible
What should I do?
Once every four days in not a problem unless your frequency was higher
before the drugs.
I don't know if I suggested beans to you yet but they have worked
wonders for me. I buy Dry Lima Bean at the supermarket and they
require about 6 hours of cooking. I eat a cup at lunch and a cup at
dinner and I have great results.
However, if you have not used Docusate Sodium yet that might be
first.
I have found that it takes a great deal of attention to get regular
while on this stuff.
And, no bananas, cheese, etc.
Good Luck!
