Re: OT-non-CP physical problem

Dear Legend,

I'm not losing another friend if I can help it. Go to the ER, don't ***
around, pardon the language. The kind of *** than can go wrong with an
epidural are pretty rare and hit you faster than this, but when they go
wrong you're talking serious ***. Remember all that fluid in the spinal
canal surrounds the brain too. Infections can be killer stuff like
encephalitis and staph infections, but they usually hit pretty fast and
hard. Regardless, a temp that high (anything over 103 really) needs
checking out now. Pack a bag and hit the ER, please.

Get in touch when you know something.--og

Hi. I have a physical problem that's not CP related (that I know of)
but, since a lot of you have multiple problems, I thought I'd see if
anyone has any ideas.

I had a pretty bad case of the flu about 3 months ago. The symptoms
never really went away completely. But, now, I 've been having
sporadic, spikes in temperature, from 100 to 106.6 degrees.

My doctor wasn't in his office today. His NP, with whom I don't get
along, will be in tomorrow. the last time I saw her, she refused me
antibiotics for a urinary infection, saying I didn't "deserve" them,
since my blood sugar was high(I'm diabetic).

My sugar levels have vastly improved. I can usually tell that my
temperature is spiking by a case of the "shakes", or a dry mouth. The
spiked sessions seldom last for morethan two minutes.

Could it have been brought on by the epidural, which I had almost two
weeks ago? I hesitate to go into the hospital, as my regular doctor
and my pain doc are affiliated with different hospitals, and I know
how signals can get crossed. I could get someone to bring my pain
pills in to the hospital, but I only have about a week's supply (My
next scheduled appointment is next Thursday).

But, my temperature has been spiking progressively higher, and I can't
really wait. My symptoms are weakness, shakiness, headaches, and the
general feeling of having a bad cold. I haven't changed any
medicines, except for running out of the antibiotics that my PC gave
me about a week ago.

Any ideas or experiences?
