Re: physician review

And...sounds like you had a pretty scary situation going on there. Are you
still seeing that office?

Dear Robin,

I'd only be running away from him if he's practicing medicine on you. It
might be something else. My place had a revolving door too. Then I
realized the "practice" had been sold to another doctor. So for a while
there, there was a new doctor "line up" every month, probably until the
"new owner" settled on his price to staff the practice, and run it with
like minded physicians, to expose themselves to as little risk as
possible. Then it settled down. (and you probably don't need an valid
medical degree if you staff it right, but your guy practicing himself??)
Then they started on the nurses, till things clicked financially there
too. And then the office staff (which they got their nurses to pitch in
on, even though they do more than the doctors, usually. They hustle.).
Then they got a P.A. for all the Rx work. So I'm sure they do ok in spite
of the heavy duty, high risk malpractice they may have to pay. There's one
guy there that I know is their full time accountant and maybe lawyer ( he
seems like he's a partner as well as a case of nepotism. I asked him to
look at my wrist, and they all started cracking up when he said it looked
fine to him. Then they said "he'll do your taxes, but keep him the hell
away from your arm!") as I know that he was in on wording the narcotics
contracts and such.
If the Bozo's not the one treating you, check out the ones who do, and you
may want to set up some type of back up position, just telling them why
you feel a little uncomfortable being in that practice.

Good Luck and thanks again--og

Welcome :)
I am just always naturally curious. Especially about the past "private"
lives of people that act like they are better than me :)

I did find an interesting tidbit. Seems one of my previous pain docs,
whom had left the practice I was seeing, was prosecuted for "Dispensing,
prescribing, or otherwise distributing any controlled substance or any
other drug without a medical office location." and then lost it all
together for "Dispensing, prescribing or otherwise distributing any
controlled substance or any other drug not in the course of professional
practice." (sorry, copy and paste)
Wow...now I am really scared about the entire practice there. They have
had a revolving door of physicians in the last 6 months. I have had to
change doctors within the practice about 4 times.

Hugs,
Robin

Dear Me5,

Thank you for this thread. The absolute best place to go is your state
medical board. But in looking mine over I found something very
enlightening
and potentially very useful in the fight for treating pain patients like
human beings. I am too wound up and enthusiastic to begin blabbing about
it,
but it is the strongest, aimed for physicians piece of pain advocacy, I
have
come across in along time, and I even have an excellent idea on what to
do
with it, but I need to let the jets cool down a little bit, so I don't
turn
something good in to something potentially harmful. But it's bigger (IMO
anyhow) than the "no ceiling on narcotic dose" statements that I have run
across and been shown. And if it had not been for you and your thread and
looking at my state medical board as a "something to do" it would have
stayed lost in some dark corner of the web site. I know this may not be
making a lot of sense right now, It's 5am, can't remember what day I
slept
last, and now I am wired with excitement, but I am in your debt.
Many, many thanks and I hope I can share the "why" with you very soon.

Have a painless day--og

I heard somewhere that there is a website that you can go to and enter
your
doctor's name and it will show things like whether he has been sued, his
educational background and his experience background. Does anyone know
where this site is?

Thanks
