I think you would be very well served by explaining that you are having
difficulty with the sedative effects of this drug, but that it is giving you
very adequate pain control. Perhaps he will be able to devide your doses so
that you can take them more often, but at lower doses, allowing you to take
four doses in a day instead of two. Perhaps that would allow you to maximize
when you needed more relief or less sedation. Be honest and he or she should
be very motivated to work with you.

Occasionally I am very tired out by just 20mg of dihydrocodeine
(tablets come in 10mg/ 500mg each).

What do you think my doctor would do if I went back to him? Obviously I
don't want to loose my right to this drug.

Or if anyone has advice I would be very appreciative.
