known for a small % of folk -
from the patient fact *** on morphine sulfate:
skin:
pruritus, [an itch or a sensation that makes a person want to scratch]
urticaria, [commonly known as hives]
and other skin rashes.
and for zyrtec [cetirizine hci], while it is in the antihistamine
catagory, it also has a low % side effect of:
Skin:
acne, alopecia, angioedema, bullous eruption, dermatitis, dry skin,
eczema, erythematous rash, furunculosis, hyperkeratosis, hypertrichosis,
increased sweating, maculopapular rash, photosensitivity reaction,
photosensitivity toxic reaction, pruritus, purpura, rash, seborrhea, skin
disorder, skin nodule, urticaria
kind of a 'reverse' normal physiological/pharmacological process.
so
while not listed as a high % occurance with either drug - it is
definitely know to happen for some - and it seems that you are might be in
that low % group

Since I'm picking your brains anyway.
I've NEVER been the sort to get rashes.
(okay, except for the crushing romantic blow which brought on a
shingles attack, and haunts me to this day)...the shingles, not the
blow.
STOP Snickering please! My brother got shingles over a CAR he lusted
after when he was 16. ;)
SO..............................
While on morphine, I started breaking out in BRIGHT
red itchy rashes....just a few small bumps, but BIG patches of
skin....they'd come and go
just as mysteriously, only to return the next day or day after.
Nothing new "environmentally" or medically except morphine.
When the doc switched me back to oxy, they went away.....for two
weeks.
He'd also given me Zyrtec, which seems to clear them. We were almost
certain it was a reaction to morphine, but that can't BE if they're
showing up again now, can it?
OR
Is this just another manifestation of Fibro I've yet to run across in
reading?
Thanks for any and all help,
