In process of getting second opinion on the operation
on my neck and back this I hope will be resolved next
month. Now two questions: I had a bone density test
done and have severe Osteoporosis in lower back and
left hip. Was placed on Fosamax (just took first
last Friday) how long before relief if you have taken it?

relief of what??

Fosamax is not an instant cure of anything...osteoporosis cannot be
adequately reversed..to the point of pain relief..by taking Fosamax...at
best...it MAY increase your bone density by ..maybe 5%...and that can take
upwards of two years...

Fosamax is essentially a "preventitve" med...to limit bone loss..which is
why menopausal females are suggested to take it...

Also had upper GI and have slow swallowing reflex that
causes me not to be able to swallow after I swallow the
first time. I panic sometimes because I feel like I am
choking. Small bites and/or liquid diet and is there anything else that
can help with this?

also..Fosamax may well make your GI problems worse...which is why you have
to take it and then not eat for at least half an hour..and never get upright
during that time

personally I stopped taking Fosamax and all the drugs in that category..as I
also have GERD...not quite as bad as you describe....

mostly I didn't like waiting half an hour for my coffee!!
