Well if I remember correctly your a woman living alone aren't you?
The safe deposit box is a great idea! Think I'll make that stop when I fill
the scripts too. Thanks for the idea. My doctor has been using the full
page size scripts about 2 years, printed on safety paper. MY PCP has been
using full sized scripts for about 5 years. It is strange at first.
I haven't talked with my pharmacy yet about using them. I thought I would
have to use a mail order pharmacy to get that quantity, but found out my
pharmacy can be used if they are willing to. They aren't required to, they
can decide for themselves if they want to fill a 3 months supply of schedule
II's. Hopefully they will be agreeable.
I've never had any concerns about my meds in my home. However, to have 3
months supply at home makes me uncomfortable. The safe deposit box is a
great option! Move over hard assets and paperwork, the meds are coming!
Not to try to scare you or anything but, you want to tempt Mr Fate
with all of that in your house? Seems a risk not worth taking, I mean
hell I've a CCW and didn't take it.
As it turns out the stop at the bank was a good idea as I just got
this e-mail from a neighbor.
"Steve, I just wanted to let everyone know that there was an attempted
break-in on our house at XXXX Lilley Cove. Today 7/18/06 between 10
am and 3 pm (broad day light) our back door was partially kicked in
(lucky the bolt-lock held). The police were called and have all the
information documented. The police also informed me that there was
another break-in today in Silverwood. They think it might have been
the same group. A similar car was seen in both areas. They are
investigating."
I've never really had any concerns having stuff in my home either as I
live in a pretty safe area. However, like most areas it is in a state
of change as most of the kids have grown up and most of the house are
now empty during the day. Fortunately for me some of my neighbors
have recently retired and I have more people at home during the day in
the immediate area right around me, but still you never can tell.
90-days worth of Meds have an awful high street value. Two pill
bottles can very easily fit into a pants pocket. Way easier to get
out of a house the a big screen TV and even easier to peddle then
jewelry. The only thing I can thing of that is better is cash, and
who the hell actually has cash anymore? It isn't even the having the
stuff stolen that bothers me all that much, but the hassle of having
them replaced, and then probably being thrown off the 90-day program
for being unreliable. I'd also feel pretty damn horrible if somebody
OD'd off being sold my medications that I did take the appropriate
steps to protect. Yeah I know to high of a sense of responsibility,
but it is what it is.

I agree....how insane for the DEA to think this is a better process. IFor numerous reasons I decided to stop at the bank and dump off two
just
had my appt with my pain doc last week and he is now doing this. Although
we never did do monthly appts. I'm going to talk with my pharmacy and see
if they will make sure to have enough meds for me next month when I come
in
to fill 3 months worth all at once. It makes me a bit uncomfortable
having
that much medication on hand, but until the DEA figures out this isn't
exactly the best scenario it's all we have. My doctor didn't mention
anything about any pee tests though.
months worth into the Safety Deposit box. You may decide to take your
own precautions (which personally I advocate). I also own an at home
safe for daily storage.
Even though I forewarned the Pharmacy what would be happening the
amounts were above the thresholds that they have established to carry
in their daily inventories. Additionally they cannot phone or fax in
Schedule II orders, they have to be placed in writing which really
slows down the ordering & delivery process. Since they are a chain
they called around to their sister stores and none of them had that
much on hand either. Makes sense that they would all be following the
same policy doesn't it?
Because my Pharmacy is also supposed to be "registered" with the
Clinic I had to go back to the Clinic to get "permission" to go
looking for another Pharmacy which could fill the script for that
amount of meds, I got some strange looks I can tell you that.
I'll not go into the specifics of which medications I am currently
taking (I no longer share that type of information here), but with
both my primary & breakthrough medication being Schedule II drugs
90-day supplies of them made for quite a "street-value" haul. Why on
earth the DEA thinks having that many drugs out on the street is safer
then a couple of unfilled scripts is beyond me.
BTW -- Is your Dr. using those new fancy computer generated laser
printed water-marked check-like full-page scripts? The things are
gigantic.
