Re: Those foam mattresses
I have a Stearns and Foster Kingsdown DormoDiagnostic mattress set and it is
worth
every penny I paid for it. It does not get hard or
soft with heat or air conditioning like the Tempurpedic.
I tried that and had the store take it back. Good luck
with whatever you get

Had 1st L4-L5 surgery 3 years ago. Getting a cage in two weeks. Has
anyone used those NASA foam mattresses? Help or hell?
I went with a latex adjustable bed instead. It is more plyable. I find
with the tempurpedic if its cold the bed is hard as a rock. When its too
warm it is too mushy. The latex has a better natural consistancy that
gives incredible comfort. Never a need to flip the bed over either like a
spring. I also recently checked out the air number beds and unless you get
it with the pillow top mattress dont bother. Its a nice concept but it has
a similar feel to a waterbed I cant really describe to well. Try em all
what have you got to lose, just make sure you also try the latex (unless
you are alergic to it).

... So, I was making the bed with Tom today, and because the latex mattress is about half as thick as most beds, I was pulling the mattress up a LOT to tighten sheets under it when, HORRORs, I detected a giant MOLD slick on the vinyl boxspring allergy encasement, the bed skirt platform, the bottom of my microfiber mattress encasement and the bottom side of my mattress. ... I obviously can't replace the bed immediately, if at all, but I researched and found that natural latex rubber is really inhospitable to molds, so I sprayed the mattress area with bleach and laundered the mess, ordered new encasements and then cut off the damaged portions of the mattress damask cover and some of the layer of batting beneath. ... Most of the batting wasn't moldy past the top, but what's amazing is the total absence of any evidence of mold on the latex rubber mattress below, I mean not a single spot, despite the moisture there for weeks and the large black oval on the cover when I'd sprayed it. ... Conversely, while I was researching moldy beds today, I discovered that Comfort Select beds have a mold problem, just about anybody who looks under the cover finds a mold slick covering the air cells or foam area, even after owning the beds only 30 days. ...
