i have to disagree with ya on this one. a person can do other things and
still be meditating. have you ever gotten lost in a book, lost track of
time while doing a hobby, not heard someone calling you when your
gardening( or other hobby), realized you were "playing" with your
kid/animal/etc and didn't feel pain while you were 'playing'?
and yes, to do the "meditation on command" type thang does take a long time
to master.... i've been doing Tai Chi and yoga for way more than 20 years, i
just had to modify to accomodate my ailments after the accident ( which is
exactly 8 years and 11 months ago tonight at 1:45 am <sigh>) and i am no way
a master at it LOL i do lots of isometric type stretches while lying down,
add in some good deep breathing techniques and visualasations, andrelaxing
techqniques.... but it sure ain't easy to get into 'the zone' when having a
flare
