I went to an Oral surgeon, and because I don't have true TMJ I have
some type of nerve problem with my Jaw they did Radio frequency
surgery. Basically the surgeon touches the nerves around the jaw and it
scrambles the signal not sending pain signals to my brain any more. I
still have muscle spasms but the terrible headaches decreased from
constant too often and not as painful and has lasted about a year and
half.
It has been a year and half since I had it done and the pain in my neck
and headaches are becoming very painful again. The RDF surgery was very
painful it took about two weeks for the extreme pain to go away and 3
months for the pain in my jaw and head to go away. Always a price:) But
overall I would highly recommend it. RDF in the Jaw is much different
than anything a pain doc does to the back or neck as far as recovery.
I hope this answers your question, let me know if you have any more.
