Dear Gix,
The new spot on the body is to keep the flow rate constant, The drug forms
sort of a subdermal pocket below your skin. Imagine you were planting a
tree in a hole instead, extra water at first is ok. Sooner or later it gets
saturated where it cant hold any more water same deal kind of, no more drug
in to the hole.
As far as heat goes they never gave be a specific number, but when I asked
about a 103 degree hot rub I thought they were going to jump out of the
phone and take em back. I'd be very careful getting close to body temp
(your skin can sweat, the patch can't) and if you get the flu (god forbid)
and you can beat 101.1 call the doc and switch to an oral med for a while
And people have kicked the bucket (not reading their patient notes, no
doubt) using a heating pad right over the patch. Maybe he had fat life
insurance??
Pay attention to what Sue said about placement. Torso arms and shoulders.
Got's something to do with absorption rates on different parts of the body.
Watched a CSI once (great medical advice from TV where they had a couple of
young kids pull a Romeo and Juliet by putting a 100 in each hand. and they
died holding hands peacefully. HollyWould... Maybe if they showed then
puking their farewell pizza all over each other then trying for one more
game of hide the salami, then passing out and drowning in their own puke
they'd ask why instead of having no drilled in to their brains. Kids have
heard no so many time by the time they get exposed to drugs, they know the
word has no meaning anymore.
<all right... I'm off my soapbox ...next>
Hope those patches work good for you. I know from experience multi patches
are a pain, but on the flip side that's pretty strong stuff. And if your
insurance is willing you can gain lots of fresh real estate by using the
25's and spreading them around, but that's big$$.
Good luck--og,
